I wanted to get a few opinions on some select questions about Guild Wars from a few of you Gurus. I'm not looking for any links or facts to back up what you have to say, I just want your opinion on the subject.

1. What is, in your opinion, the most over used combination of classes?

2. What is, in your opinion of course, the least played combination of classes?

3. What is, again and this will be the last time I state this, in your opinion, the best combination for solo farming?

4. What class are you always glad to have in your party?

5. What class do you think Guild Wars could do without?

That's all I have for now.

2) what you don't see above
3) A/E Mo/any [depending on the area]
4) Rt Mo P
5) in terms of PvE, I sadly find mesmers really underused, they need a buff imo.
I won't speak up in terms of PvP, I'm not an expert.

N/Rt perhaps.

2. What is, in your opinion of course, the least played combination of classes?
Things that completely don't synergise, like soft casters in melee (though there are exceptions). E/W, Me/W, etc

3. What is, again and this will be the last time I state this, in your opinion, the best combination for solo farming?
Currently A/E, but thats getting nerfed sometime this year.

4. What class are you always glad to have in your party?
Monk, but I don't pug so this is a pointless question.

5. What class do you think Guild Wars could do without?
No profession as such, but some skills shouldn't exist, like Shadow Form.

3. any/rt, mo/me, a/e.
4. rit, monk. imbagon if played well.
5. dervish. then sin.

e: e/w is often used for stances, especially in some terratank variants.

I'll do only PvE perspective - since you asked about solo farming, I'm assuming that's all you care about.

1. W/Mo, N/Rt, A/E, Mo/E, Mo/Me
2. E/R
3. A/E
4. W (unless you're talking a "tank")
5. A, Rt, D, P

Notice everyone who responded listed more than one, when you asked for the MOST/LEAST/BEST? Its because everyone sees things differently, and nobody sees the same things.

I'll only answer one of them, and that is because it is the least likely to change due to skill changes. #3, the best for farming, in my opinion, would be Monk. Monk can solo farm with 55 in many places and team farm anywhere. If you want to duo farm they have the 600/Smite, but that may disappear soon. All classes have SOME option to team farm, but Monk has the most options. And 55 farming has been around for longer than anything else except W/Mo melee farming, but that is quite slow and limited in what you can farm.

Farming isn't needed though. I'd make a character for playing the game, and if you want to farm later, do that. Only reason farming exists is because people want shiny things that are hard to get so they look cool. I think my characters look cool, and I spend little time farming because I didn't need big bucks to get what I wanted.

1. What is, in your opinion, the most over used combination of classes?
A/E and other perma variations, Mo/E, Mo/Me, N/Rt, N/E, N/Mo, W/P. Off the top of my head these are the ones I see the most but of course I'm missing a few E/'s and I might have the W/P wrong though (come to think of it, I don't really see them much at all).

2. What is, in your opinion of course, the least played combination of classes?
P/anything, D/anything, etc. This question doesn't make much sense, since it relies pretty much on the most used builds. As such, any variations are not directly part of said builds will obviously be the most underused combinations.

3. What is, again and this will be the last time I state this, in your opinion, the best combination for solo farming?
A/E until the Shadow Form nerf sometime next month; Mo/E; Mo/Me; some E/ variations, not sure wich ones but /A, /Me, /N, /Rt definitely fall somewhere in there.

4. What class are you always glad to have in your party?
Necros for minion bombers and to some extent, curses; Warriors for high damage, Earth Shaker, and SY spam; Mesmers for interrupts and shutdowns mainly to easily disrupt the enemy's healing; Monks of course, for obvious reasons. Everything else is welcome too since they all have some particular utility like the 4 above, but these are my favourites.

5. What class do you think Guild Wars could do without?
Assassins hands down, enough with the Shadow raping on PvE and the seriously lame almost instant kills they can make in PvP. I somewhat dispise sins.

Its a 3-way tie between W/Mo, A/E and R/Rt. Virtually every new warrior who doesn't really have the game mechanics down is a W/Mo. Due to the extremely over-powered skill Shadowform, virtually every assassin is set up to perma. Finally, because bow damage kinda sucks, most if not all rangers run a volley/barrage-splinter weapon setup, or use a lot of spirits to supplement damage.

There are many here as well. As Marty pointed out above a lot of combos just don't make sense due to completely different skill sets. Still, many of the least played combinations are of the form P/Any and Me/Any (mesmers are used a lot in PvP of course).

There's no single "best" combo in my opinion, but for the moment A/E is drastically over-powered for farming thanks to Shadowform. Other notable choices include Mo/Me for a variety of builds including 55s, E/Me for terra tanks, and Rt/Any for spirit spamming.

Every group needs healers, so a common answer here will be monks. Other good answers are healing/support ritualists, spirit spamming ritualists, and mesmers who actually know how to pwn things (even in PvE).

I have advanced characters of all 10 professions, so I wouldn't want to see any of them removed. However, even though my alliance leader would kill me for saying so, I don't see much use for the paragon, short of spamming one particularly overpowered PvE-only shout. Also, Elementalists are mostly crap in the later stages and in Hard mode, though they do have some decent utility builds.

Good hunting.

On this, I MUST disagree. My main, title-grabbing character is my elementalist, and all of my in-game friends are glad to see me in their group. The high level of damage per second, plus area of effect damage I bring has made many a vanquish laughable. On top of that, Legendary Guardian was also a joke with my ele. I would hazard to guess that most Elementalists you've had in your groups suck ass. I <3 my ele

1. What is, in your opinion, the most over used combination of classes?

A/E, it's sad, I mean REALLY sad that you have to ask the A/E if they are perma, because 50% of the time they are. Some reason people can't figure out, Perma + non speed clear gimmick team = fail. Last time I checked there isn't a speed clear for Vanquishing North Kryta Province

2. What is, in your opinion of course, the least played combination of classes?

P/D or E/W, mainly because they can't mix well.

3. What is, again and this will be the last time I state this, in your opinion, the best combination for solo farming?

A/E or Mo/Me, those will both be nerfed due to being to powerful.

4. What class are you always glad to have in your party?

Any melee/Dervish or Dervish/anything. I PvE a lot with my ER infuser and as soon as I see a Dervish with AoE attacks I send them an invite. Great Dwarf Weapon + AoE attacks = mobs dead.

5. What class do you think Guild Wars could do without?

Paragon, if it wasn't for "Save Yourselves" they would be dead right now... I didn't realize the irony until I read what I wrote

1. What is, in your opinion, the most over used combination of classes?
Probably in PvE it would be A/E (SF), for PvP it would be Me/N (bspike)

2. What is, in your opinion of course, the least played combination of classes?
P/A or Me/R

3. What is, again and this will be the last time I state this, in your opinion, the best combination for solo farming?
A/E or Mo/R Mo/N

4. What class are you always glad to have in your party?
Monk

5. What class do you think Guild Wars could do without?
Although each class has a unique aspect to it, it would be Paragon, PvE and PvP wise.

1. Don't know
2. Don't know
3. probably Mo/Me - although that's for 600/smite - not exactly solo.
4. Monk
5. Depends upon what you mean. GW could do without every class, but if you are implying what class GW would be better off without, I'd say "none" - they all have their good and bad points. I would say that Paragon would be missed the least.

That's all I have for now.
1: over-used is negative, but if you're talking about most used, then A/E.

2: least used is probably mesmer and paragon, and combinations probably melee classes with caster secondaries (P/N, P/E, like that)

3: there are a few good solo farming possibilities, I think it's a tie between A/E, A/Me, Mo/? and E/Me.

4: I'm always glad to have necro heroes in my party. If I'm going 6-way discord with a guildie, I'm glad if it's a ranger or paragon human.

5: I think GW could readily do without Dervishes.

The most overused is A/E imo

anything soft with melee

rt/any or r/rt probably atm

a healer derp

I'll have to admit, paragons aren't the best when it comes to overall. However, I love my para and it's always fun to use. I'm not in to pvp very much but I've heard that they're garbage there. In pve, they can be great though.
