I kinda like the non-signaturish character of Guru. More talk, less distractions by all those oppressive and possibly garish pictures.

So yeah. u gotta be core or elite member, or Admin/moderator to have one. Even Moderators had to fight to get theirs. (even tho just small ones).
If everyone would have signatures it would cause alot lag loading all images etc. to users.

what a signature comes down to on guru, donate cash to some oppressive website to have a 400x150~ space below your posts to express how arrogant you are.
makes me wish guru was ran significantly betterm so that the community would support it, and like every single other non-guru website, be able to support some dinky 50kb signatures. you're a good mod, so i nominate pleikki to solve this problem.

Awww, don't be sad Gift3d. If we were that oppressive and arrogant, you would have been perma'd long ago.
In the beginning, no one was allowed sigs in an effort to keep the forum uncluttered and clean looking. That's one of the reasons we still have the size limitations of the sigs we do allow. Later, we added a sig line as a perk to contributors. Plus, with the amount of users on our already strained servers, allowing them would probably strain the site to the point of breaking. Then there's the Guru Select program. There's very little in the way of perks we can offer users who donate to this site. A signature is one of them. That's the only reason we do it, no matter what the voices in your head may be telling you.
And with that, this can be closed. This question is asked fairly often enough and when it's answered, everyone else that has a problem with the system comes and complains.
