Like a lot of people today I tried to log into my account and it didn't recognise my password. I changed the password, still no go. I checked my other accounts and faound the same problem.
There was no notification on the GW log in screen that this was a system error that wasn't limited to myself. The NCSoft site where I changed my password was also curiously quiet about the log in problem issues. The GW site told me all about the Wintersday redux and how I can buy a costume. There was nothing about the log in problems. The I came to GW Guru and the first 6 posts I see are about people having problems logging in. Threads are closed informing us that the Live Team is aware of the problem and they are working on it. My question is, at what point where we going to be told about this?
How many people changed their password needlessly? How many people now don't know if their old or their new password is valid? How many people in the GW team are furiously reponding to requests about passwords?
Considering the security threats lately it is fairly reasonable for people to assume that their account has been hacked when they can't log in. Not knowing what is going on is more likely to lead to stress than being advised of an issue that is being addressed.
I'm not big on QQing just for the sake of a whinge. Here's the suggestion: Next time something like this happens, once the Live Team are aware of the issue, put a message on the log in screen. This will save people becoming frustrated and stressed and prevent a flurry of needless password changes.
I fully appreciate that they are working on the problem. I can see why fixing the password issue is of urgent importance. By not informing us, however, a great deal of useless activity and annoyance was created.
I know quite a few players who have been into GW for years and have never visited GW Guru (crazy I know). Theya re probably still changing their passwords and pulling thier hair out.

The problem was not a planned event, and was resolved in approximately 38 minutes. The players who know where to look (here or on the wiki) will quickly realize what's going on in that span of time, and the only people who it really seemed to affect were the people who were logged on or tried to log on during those 38 minutes.
You're overreacting to be asking them to be telling everyone about it through the official website or log-in screen.

They are pretty good at getting a quick notice out if there is anything going on and it is easier for them to notify there than posting on the login screen or on the website or wiki. You don't have to rely on checking the forums either which may not have notices immediately.
