There should be an exemption to the non-bid rule, in that one may post on a buy thread should the item the buyer is seeking doesn't exist. For example, I have had to let multiple people know (even within the past month or so) that secondary attributes for Celestial and Zodiac scepters do not drop inscriptable, only primary attibutes can drop inscriptable.
It would be easier to post that an item does not exist than sending it via PM because someone might look at the thread in which the desired item does not exist and get the impression that such an item does exist, before the buyer (of the non-existant item) logs on and changes/closes the thread.
Just an idea. Thanks!

Thank you for your post, from personal experience I know exactly how you feel. But, the rule has been made like this for a reason:
I have seen many posts claiming that a sought after item didn't exist, prompting a reply from the OP,- earning him an early bump infraction and a locked thread.
Had the exchange been done by PM, this would not have happened.
In some of these cases, the "helper" was downright wrong and the OP was the one who got banned for explaining this.
We greatly appreciate when our users help each other with information, but we must insist that such comments be sent as PM's to avoid such unfortunate bans.

PMs really do work fine for this.
I've seen people trying to buy non-insc versions of NF/EoTN weapons, weapons with reqs that are impossible, non-insc staves with inherent +5e^50% health, you name it. A quick PM gets the attention of the buyer, which is important because so many people start threads without checking them. If they receive a PM, they are more likely to get their thread closed and prevent a discussion from starting.
