I played Guild Wars sometime last year, I was terrible at it. I still am, I'd like to start again.

I'd like to play an assassin character, but I have no idea how to approach it, could anyone outline any builds just to help me play through the Factions campaign, and please remember I am an official idiot when it comes to this stuff, so if you could try to make it as noob-friendly as you could.

Thanks.

For PvE, one of the best combos you can have is critical eye->jagged strike->fox fangs->death blossom. People use this chain because jagged and fox fangs both activate faster than normal dagger attacks, plus their recharge is very low, meaning you can attack very fast plus spam death blossom to do big aoe damage. The rest of your skills can be utility, like dash, critical defense, res, maybe even an extra lead attack for more damage, or exhausting assualt for an interrupt. Once you gain some faction, try unlocking "Save Yourself!" from the faction reward person in your guild hall. It is a warrior adrenalin based skill, that will give your whole party a +100 armor boost, it is a great addition to this build. Also, you should have an elite skill on your bar. It might be hard at first to get a good elite, but it helps if you always bring a signet of capture with you (a type of skill that lets you capture elite skills from defeated bosses). I would recommend way of the assassin for more energy higher damage and faster attacking, Fox's promise to be unblockable, Falshing blades to have good defense as well as extra damage, and many more work. Check out this page, has a good description of the build: http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build%3AA/...Dagger_Spammer. Also, the best kind of daggers for this build are the kind that say energy gain 1 on hit, -1 energy regeneration, or "zealous" daggers. The extra energy you gain from these daggers is useful when spamming the dagger attack skills.

People are going to tell you that this is not the forum to ask for builds and/or they'll tell you all sorts of wonderful builds you should use - most of which will use skills you don't have. (see next post )
I'm going to tell you that NM is easy enough that just about any build will do, provided you aren't completely useless at putting a skill bar together; that you should get best available armor with good runes and insignias (don't be cheap) and; that you be cautious about joining PUGs (they may assume that you have some build you don't).

thanks for all the help i've been wandering around that pvxwiki site, seems to be a source of some really good builds. But yes, as mentioned getting the skills is the main issue. Though I must say, the assassin class is fun to play. Just a matter of perserverance now so I can get some elite skills.

Thanks for the great replies.
