I recently upgraded from Windows Vista to 7. I am using a laptop with Intel graphics that were able to run all parts of Guild Wars without any problems, so the crash can't be caused by the hardware I have.
Randomly, the game will lock up and I can't input anything. It happens when I load an area, either through the portal or even switching districts or going to a guild hall. The screen usually turns black and the mouse pointer won't move, but occasionally it will show the area's loading art but still be frozen. It's not a normal crash where the program stops working, either. The whole system freezes, and my choices are either manually shutting it down or waiting for a blue screen.
Any Ideas what's causing this?
I have eliminated my hardware and I have already tried updating the sound drivers. I also tried disabling my anti-virus and I am running it in compatibility mode for Vista. I even tried compatibility for XP.
Weird persistant crash

Most likely it's a driver problem/conflict. Try to get the latest W7 drivers for allyour hardware. Some may need updates that aren't available yet, so you may just have to tough it out for a while.

Thank you for your responses. I am updating my drivers as I type this.
@drkn: I look at that post, and my problem is different because I can switch between tasks without a problem; it only crashes when loading a new area.
I'll let you know if updating the drivers fixes the problem.
