I hate people now.

Some 55 Monk joins this guy's UW group that I was in.
We figure to get more monks since we are suspicious of korean names. We end up with 2 more.
Anyway, we kill the first part (labyrinth or what not) and just go exploring (like normal, non farming people). She (girl character, but prolly a guy IRL) decides to go to smite crawler and farm.
All the while we are killing obsidian behemoths, grasping darkness, mind blade sceptres, and the stuff that people DO NOT FARM, because we are cool like that. After all, the PvE is for fun, not for grinding.
So, for some reason I forget why, I think we got the unluckier of patrols/spawns and we get mobbed by like 15-20 mesmer types (mindblade sceptres, banished dream rides, wailing lords). So our monks can't heal that well because of all the mesmer stuff (migraine and ignorance) ...and we die. A W/Mo is left and we hope that we can get ressed against the odds. But the spawn remains WAYYY too large.
Anyway, he/she ends up dying also, and we end up going, "screw it" because the 55 monk is still alive happily farming Smite crawlers.
Also, when grouping all people care about is ecto/shards. What ever happened to playing for FUN?
Case in point, people are greedy and only play PvE fror gold. Even in this forum, someone posted "who is the richest person in GW", when it is not what really counts. Experience in terms of the PLAYER's experience not character experience as well as maturity and morality to actually play fairly and discuss how to approach things WITH the rest of the group is what I value in a person that plays Guild Wars. Not how many things you can kill by using a Premade build build off mindlessly smacking keys in succession to get your oh so dear Fissure armor that has the same armor leel as the 15K or droknar's.
/end rant
Why do you think people feel inclined to screw others over so they don't have to go to the labyrinth part of UW? IS it a lack of knowledge of 55 build, or just plain stupidity/being an annoying person?

have the 55 monk call their health while you are standing next to them with their armor on, if they switch or take off any armor, there is a kick button if your leader....

...just dont get monk/warriors.

collectors are my best friend and my most prized bow is a gold submax damage with 19% longer enchantment and a +5 energy wand for 3 carvings outside nolani (i do have the +12 drok artifact to go with it though)
it is fun for me

The only time this wouldn't work is when the monk calls out their health by simply typing it instead of the ctrl+click method, and make it look like he/she did.

Invite me instead ^^ i'm a Mo/E with 522 health -_-'(never found better mods than hale and fortitude for my staff) I'm usualy a protection monk. i also got most mesmer skill unlocked if needed.

I'm not online right now. But if you need a non farming monk for FoW feel free to send me a message someday. You can also be bossy as to what skill i should bring and when to use it as its better have good strategy than just spamming skill when they seem to be needed.

I think I explored all of FoW. MY goal is to finish all of UW before chapter 2. I feel like it just isn't happening. Everywhere where high level missions are, all people want to do is farm.
Take for example:
FoW- People want shards, Fiery Dragon Sword, Chaos Axe, etc.
UW- People want ecto, storm bows, eternal shields, etc.
Sorrow's Furnace- People want Greens
Grenth's Footprint- People want Greens (Boss farming)
Desert- People want Golds (Griffon farming)
Ember Light Camp- People want Golds (Hydra farming)
Mineral Springs- People want Icy Dragon Sword
Notice the pattern?

FoW, UW, SF or what ever is all fine with me I never really enjoyed farming. The only time i really farm is when i need the item to make new weapon from collectors and that doesnt happen often.
I never went to FoW before and i went to UW only once alone with my ranger last summer. I visited SF with Henchmen but only finished 1 of the quests.
I wouldn't join you to Mineral Spring though.. Unless you wanna kill some titan since i activated the quest but never did it yet. The people in that place only want to go capture Shield of Judgement.. and now farm dragon sword.

That was like the time I went into UW and a pair of Korean monks let us die then cleared the whole place out. It was a good learning experience.

The only thing that really proves is that it would be good to be able to take henchies into UW. In contrast to lots of humans, henchies won't let you down. At least not deliberately.

I play regularly with two friends, one fo them runs a 55 monk. The three of us clear lots of the UW and enjoy doing it together. We don't mascarade as something we're not. It's the players, not the build.

Will it be abused, yes, but no more that the current system abuses players.
Maybe some one needs to start a monk guild, like the runners guild.

Well, I disagree. If you say 55 monks don't hurt gameplay, then why is it so hard to get monks that know WTH they are doing.
Monks that aren't 55 builds:
-they are actually good, fun-loving players
-they think 55 build is to easy
-they think farming is boring*
-they like playing with people
-they are new and dunno WTH a 55 build is (unlikely, it is plastered all over the place)
-they can't afford to make 55 build (unlikely)
-they use other people's knowledge as leverage to get through missions (How often do you see Helaing Monk LFG?)

I spam Healing Monk lfg, but only when I'm too bored to make my own group. >.> It helps that I'm usually with someone else, so I can make them be leader.
What's sad is that I usually end up being the leader no matter what.

Yeah, don't group with mo/w. But there are solo warriors, ranger trappers and necro builds as well.
Solution? Just ask ANET to make henchmen at Temple of Ages all level 20 instead of current lvl 15. So any group can have their own monks or henchmen to play UW or FoW with.

I play Mo/W and I have 551 hp there ar some good Mo/W out there don't put us all down.Maybe the price on armor should come down so you don't have to farm LH to to buy it.

Or maybe A-Net needs to bring out the nerf bat, obviously this build is now a problem

dont take mo/w , i dont see any reason why a monk should be mo/w
if he is a regular mo/w probably he isnt good since mo/w dont have any energy menagement skill(and dont say me bonneti is : who want be near a bladed axe in uw?).

My very first character, and my main girl is a monk. I've never done the 55thing just because it's not my plate of choice. I'd have to disagree with your reasoning on why there's no 'good' monks as you say.
Once upon a time I used to only play with other people. But I quickly got sick and tired of the jerks in this game blaming everything on me. No, I'm not perfect, however I am the first one members in my guild come running to when they need a monk. So I'm not that bad. I've pretty much sworn off pick up groups when I'm on my monk. Now I only play with friends and guildies. Every now and then we'll feel charitable and go take some poor souls through Thunderhead or something. But it's not often, as we get easily disgusted by the typical name calling immaturity that goes on.
There's something I'd like to know though. "Good" monks are not the only thing it's hard to find. How about a "good" tank? One that knows the art of holding aggro and what not. I'm lucky enough to know a handful of good tanks, but this game has just as much a lack of good tanks as it does good healers. What's the reason for that? Is there some warrior build of doom out there? Or is it the player behind the toon?

Lol. I have a warrior and don't believe in "tanking" I believe in crowd control and aggro techniques, not book holding while everything smacks the warrior.
But some groups like that (sigh). I want to unlock more skills on my warrior secondaries (emphasis on S, I unlocked one seconday already) so I have to deal with stupidity like book holding and groups that take quests before clearing.

No, once we got out of labyrinth he/she went straight for the smites. And when we were in lab all he/she did was run in a corner and solo one of the aataxes.

And I'm not racist againstt he Korena/Chinese farmers. I myself are Chinese. I have friends who are every nationality, making me far from racist. I am offended by any racial slur.
Yes, we figured out at the behemoths when one of the warriors died and clicked on everyone to see their locations. He said to the rest fo the group: Where is "(Korean Name)" and then said or typed, rather "She is farming smite crawlers". And then I replied "What a greedy person".

I dunno, I think it would be pretty funny if A-Net added a special monster-only skill that ALWAYS does exactly **55** damage NO MATTER WHAT to ALL of the UW monsters. That way I could laugh at all the invincimonkers. Mostly out of jealousy and spite, of course.

LifeInfusion: I see what you mean. The game of Guild wars has turned into a paradise for people who's only urge is to show and brag about their items, armors and money, completly unaware of that the game at start was developed for entertaining people.
I don't care much about those things myself. I play the times I feel like it, not to farm for a better looking, but hardly stronger, armor. I play for fun, or just to spend time and have a chat with my guildmates. For me it's just a matter of having a good time and spend some time with new people, the levels, items and money comes in second hand.
But that's just me :P

PUG with monk problems isn't new. Ever since the game's release, we've had complaints of bad attitudes from some monks who either abandon their teams or demand a hefty price for their service.
People also have very bad misconception about Korean/Chinese farmers as if all solo farmers are koreans/chinese. The fact is all nationalities do solo farming and those two tend to stand out because of unique language they use on the trade channel. Had their country's official language being English like Malaysia or India, there wouldn't be so much backlash against them. I just hate to see people cannot get into groups because of their asian names and just hope this kind of racism/negative stereotype doesn't continue.

Ha ha! Life Infusion, I kind of think we'd actually get along great in game. My use of the word "tanking" was not as taken. I hate that book, gear, whatever item of the moment 'trick'. I have a harder time keeping that one person up through mass aggro than doing what I'd call the 'normal' way.
lol Stormlord. All though it would greately damppen my three man UW team, it would be kind of funny.
I do want to say that I in no way ment to defend what apparently a lot of 55monks are doing. Claiming to be something you're not, and using people like that is wrong. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Op: O c'mon... If you came that far you can't blame that monk if he stays alive when you guys die. He probably had his deal in taking out creatures with his build so don't complain. Consider 55 builds as warriors, not as healers. You don't blame the warrior when he's the only one left alive without res spell, do you?

group votes.
any person in the group can activate it.
at least 51% of the group must agree
it sounds like a nice idea doesnt it?

I hear ya, brother. I miss like hell those good old golden days when people played PvP for fun. When there was no running/powerleveling services and people formed groups to get from one location to another or to explore.
It was after many have discovered the game and the in-depth articels and manuals have been written that things got so screwed up. I can't get over how right the author of that article is.
Guild Wars is not what it has been before. I just hope that players will regain passion for PvE once chaper 2 is out.

Have you ever considered that maybe farming is fun to some people? Maybe their idea of a good day on GW is farming the crap outta the UW and coming out rich? Maybe they do this for fun and hate people who don't because they just slack around and do nothing but take percentages of their drops. There is always two sides to the story....
chippxero
Personally i'd like Anet to put health numbers in the party bar (and have that be able to be turned on and off).
This way everyone could see peoples health before going in, and also would be pretty handy for monks like myself so that over healing don't happen as much.
Of course the monk could just switch armor once in UW in which case i'd want armor to be kept at storage rather than on characters, as you never really have to change mid mission.

Would be great with some kind of "Inspect"-function, like the one in WoW, where you can check what health, energy, armor and runes the players have got.

If it was named Farmertycoon i could maybe understand..
So for you it is logical to join a party, not paying 1k to enter FoW or UW, go farm alone away from the group.. and still manage to hate them for having their percentage of items? If you want your items why don't you just go inside by yourself?
