Cons of leaving Pre-Searing Early

So I got me friend to play the trial, and he's buying the game. I was taking him around Ascalon, I find Pre-Searing boring and hard to stay since the real world is after the searing so I wanted to ask the more experienced players. What cons are there to leaving earlier? I left right on level 5 and my friend was level 3ish.

Besides not being as prepared to face the stronger mobs, I'm more worried about the lost of skill? I've never really completed Guild Wars, (Prophecies were talking about) and wonder what if you didn't do those quest that gave you skill, would you be missing out on those skills forever? Areas/Quests in Post-Searing that will give you those skills again? I'm still confused on the unlocking skill system. I MUST do those quests am I right to get the skill.

Sorry, I'm a total newb even though I've had the game for ages.

You can buy the skills from the skill trainer in Ascalon City, and it may be that some of the skills are available from other quests during the game. You certainly don't miss out on the skills from Pre-Searing as they can be picked up outside of there.

Here is a list of the skills that are available in Pre-Searing:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/List_...Searing_skills

If you click on a skill you missed it will tell you what location you can get it after you leave Pre-Searing.

You may still learn any skill after you leave Pre-Searing Ascalon, but you will have to pay a small fee in gold and exchange a skill point, or use a tome. Skill rewards from quests allow you to learn skills without the cost, but they are only one method of several to learn skills.

As you progress through the game, you may find skill trainer NPCs in certain towns or areas. Some of the trainers offer skills not available from other trainers.

Each campaign has a skill trainer NPC who offers all of the non-elite skills from that campaign. The skill trainer NPC located in one of the towns toward the end of the Prophecies story line offers all of the non-elite skills from Prophecies.

There really isn't a level to leave pre at that would present problems, but there is a desired level range being 5-7 (IMO). Any lower than that, you're kinda under the level of the first Post-Searing henchies, any higher and it starts defeating the purpose of the original view of Prophecies: Normal paced character development.

As for skills, you can kinda get them from a LOT of Post-Searing quests as well as the trainers. Beware though, try to keep skill buying at a minimum when you start out..as the price will keep climbing 'till each skill costs you 1 Plat.

The only "con" I know of about leaving Pre Searing early is that your character will no longer be able to earn the title "Legendary Defender of Ascalon" unless you've already acquired it. The rest is attainable in Post Searing, me thinks.

That, and dye farming I guess...

Some skills cannot be acquired in Pre because it was limited to primary professions because of the <profession> Test quest.

Power Shot {R}
Healing Breeze {Mo}
Vampiric Gaze {N}
Empathy {Me}
In Pre, these skills are only available to the primary profession. Later, it is entirely possible to learn these for free without using a skill point. This is done by first ascending, then completing at least one of the four quests in the Crystal Desert to change your secondary profession. Change your secondary to that other profession, then go to the Profession Changer NPC at the Great Temple of Balthazar, and ask him to change back to the original secondary. Since you have already been that secondary, he will not charge you for the change, yet you will still learn a skill or two that you may not have already known.

Drain Enchantment {Me}
Strange as it is, using the above method will also obtain this skill for free, even though there is no quest to obtain this skill for free in Prophecies.

Banish {Mo}
Flare {E}
You can only learn these skills for free if your secondary is not one of these. If you chose one of these secondaries in Pre, you will have to pay for the skill.

You can get every skill in post, including the Rez sig. However it's much easier (and cheaper) to go ahead and grab it in pre.

Well if your looking to just get on with the storyline, just do main obj and get out of there. I assume you still want the play the game as it is, meaning no runs, rushes and so on. There are still plenty of quests and stuff after you leave searing to "catch up" with the progression of the monster levels.

Im not sure what campaigns you have. An easy way to get skills for your pve character is to first unlock skills with balthazaar faction and tome the skill, tomes are cheap. Make a pvp only character and do zaishen challenge, with nukers or trapper team its ezy.

The biggest con to leaving pre early is that you may have a bit more of a struggle at first, in post. Especially if it's your first character and you don't have gold, weapons, mats, etc., waiting for you in Xunlai storage.
Other than that though, you can still get all of the skills, but you'll need to buy them.
In any case, it's not a "game breaker".

Pros: Easily achieved higher level/skills/weapons/missions and get to be more part of your guild's "community" assuming you're not in a pre guild.

Cons: You cant ever go back... Its Ugly as shit til you get to LA or so... Cant get the LDoA title as mentioned earlier... Cant get the Nicholas Sandford gifts anymore which are an extremely cheap and easy way to get a start on the cash titles (drunkard, sweet tooth, party animal) for literally no effort or cost.

my opinion has always been its nice to have 1 pre character there for good, but get the rest of em out of there around level 4-5.

So I have an additional question, is it at all possible to exchnage items/cash through a pre char with a post char like xunlai, seeing I couldn't find a xunlai anywhere in pre.

no.. really in essence pre is its own game, totally separate from post.

If you have somebody you trust, in guild or a friend, if they have a free character slot they can make a char in pre, hold your stuff and move it out of pre to another of your chars in post. But make sure its somebody you trust, they can just run away your goodies if they like. And you cannot transport stuff the other way, from post to pre.

You cannot transfer items into pre from post. Pre is separate. There have been occasions where Post items got into Pre due to glitches but those loopholes have been fixed and anyone caught with post items will be dealt with. (Manually moved to post, I think)

However moving items to post is simple, like the other Raven suggested, all you need is a trusted friend or preferably a 2nd account and a way to run 2 accounts at once on your computer. If you have no friends ingame then you can just take your character to post and re-roll him back into pre, but at the lost of all your Pre levels and accomplishments.

Well the biggest con in my opinion is that you miss out on Pre. It's generally much nicer to get the first levels in Pre, as it looks better and there is a bigger diversity of monsters to slay. If you stay in Pre for a few levels, you don't need to do as many non-primary quests in post, but can just get going with the campaign.
I've used up all my character slots, and I often feel a pang och sadness that I will never again get to run around in Pre-searing.

I really love the way pre looks, I wish it was more like that. Once I got to post I was annoyed that everything looked so damn ugly.

Don't forget the GOTHs. Easy way to get party, sweet tooth and drunkard points.
