Hi, I sincerely hope that this is in the right section. I'm a first time poster who's recently gotten back into Guild Wars and I own the first three campaigns (and am going to get Eye of the North sooner or later). I've been looking into completing the Underworld in the future, I would love to fight Dhuum at least once before Guild Wars 2 comes out whenever that is. I'm not even interested in treasure or drops.

Well, I don't really know anyone in the game besides a couple of friends I convinced to play it with me, and I'm not so keen on joining a guild that's not super laid-back (I've been a member and a leader of a clan involving another video game and the demand annoys me). My question is then, what are my options? I've heard bad things about PuGs being uncoordinated and failing, and although I have heard that a full clear of UW is possible with heroes I wouldn't know where to begin. If I went the hero route, what classes should my friend and I be as the human players? And if I somehow managed to find actual people to play with, does it matter what class I am?

I haven't completed any of the games yet so this is a very long way off, but I would like to know this for the future. Thank you for your help, and sorry for the long post!

Hi, welcome to Guru and welcome back to Guild Wars!

There are a few threads here and there about particular builds to combat the new Underworld. In my experience, most PUGs are nothing short of intolerable when doing longer tasks such as the Underworld. If you want to run anything but a meta gimmick, you'll need to go in with heroes or a near-full group of friends/Guild mates.

Definitely finish up all of the campaigns before hitting the Underworld, it is a very difficult area if you aren't abusing Shadow Form and other nonsense!

Provided I can still be bothered to log in to GW when you reach the UW I can help "guide" you and your friend through UW. It will be pug and noob-friendly, not rely on any particular gimmick but will require some attention and a willingness to listen and adapt. In short, pugging as it should be..

It helps if one of you run a monk and the other a melee character, but not a requirement. If you prefer to handle it yourselves I can help you sort out herobuilds for maximum efficiency and enjoyment. With emphasis on the latter over the former.

Yeh, I feel this is my good deed of the day. Though I'm betting the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO mod will delete my post again.
