Hello there.
I'm writing this, just to air my frustrations (to who? lol) about not being able to login to Guild Wars. I have not played for about 2 years, but thought I'd come back and have a bash.
However, they have added this rather stupid (imo) security rule whereby you have enter a character name -- as you know -- now, I emailed support 3 days ago, and still no character has been sent. I have emailed them 8 times, and still they are just ignoring my request.
They even sent an email which asked me to send my home address, bank details, the lot. I'm like, omg - this is way more information than they should bloody need, this is not an pay per month game. I never send that kind of information out on the Internet, but I breached my own security rules, to cater to theirs, and still PlayNC support have not done a thing.
Is there anything I can do?, they are being ignorant, or just a terrible technical support personal - makes me wanna just chuck the game back on the shelf to be honest.
I'm going to email them every 30 mins, soon. 3 days, and still I cannot play the game I purchased years ago..
Sad bloody panda indeed!

Cannot get a character name from support!?

Is there a question? Nothing you or we can do. Wait for support and go do something else while you wait. Focusing on it so much doesn't help. You say you haven't played for a couple of years. A few days won't kill you. Do what you did in the last years.

Do you go through the support on the Guild Wars website?

I did this the other day. I created a new account, with a new character, played for an hour or so, then logged out. When You create a brand new account it lets you log in without inputting a name, because you obviously don't have one yet. The next day I tried to login and had completely forgot what I had made my last name.
Needless to say support took about 4 hours to respond, but gave the wrong info (This was my second account to link to ncsoft and the info they gave was for my first account), despite having the Keys and a partial name to match. 6 hours later after several more web support tickets, I finally got the right info.
So, 3 days is a long time, but 4-6 hours should be normal.

First, you may want to try checking your screenshots folder for any of your characters. By default, this folder is located in your C:\Program Files\Guild Wars folder. If you forgot your Guild Wars character name and were unable to get the character name from your screenshots, you will need to contact support. Tip! It is best to use the e-mail address that is currently registered to your Guild Wars account when contacting support. To contact support, use the Ask a Question tab and enter the green information below into the Subject and Question fields. In the account information fields, be sure to enter your account information. If you are unable to provide a piece of information, please explain why in your submission. Subject: I forgot my Guild Wars character name. Question: Here is my account information: Guild Wars e-mail/login name: ENTER GUILD WARS LOGIN NAME HERE First and last name: ENTER FIRST AND LAST NAME HERE Date of birth: ENTER DATE OF BIRTH HERE Your 25-Digit Guild Wars Access Keys: ENTER ACCESS KEYS HERE |

Sending support ticket after support ticket is only making things more complicated for the support team. Update one if you want, but don't make new ones.

Hey Chums - no, there was no inherent question in my childish rant - just wanted to post about how shameful this whole process was.
I have sent them as much information as I can, did this on day 1, but alas no response. Every new ticket I made, I added the incident number. Updating my other made no difference, still got ignored. Unless it takes that long to find my char names on the database.
Still, this whole process is turning out to be annoying. Sure, I can wait a couple of days, but my play time is limited, and I don't see why I should have to wait 3 days with 10 emails just to play a game I purchased about 4 years ago.
I'll give it one more day, then back to the shelf we go..
But, thanks for the info anyhoo.

So, IMO, make tickets till you get it fixed. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. Some support reps are lazy, others are not, so the more people that see a ticket, the more likely one will help you.
