Hi there, I'm not sure whether I'm posting in the right place but do any of you know how I can improve my ping (which is currently sitting around 200 ms) and my FPS (which is at 30)

I'm not very great at the whole computer stuff so I apologize if I make any mistakes.

Also, I live in new Zealand if it helps . . .

Your help will be much appreciated

Your fps is low, be sure to set graphical options at lowest level in Guild Wars settings.
Depending on your internet provider, your ping might be normal. Check your ping for other apps.

Your Ping isn't that bad - as far as I know NZ is a long ways from the nearest GW server, so I would be happy with 200ms ping. I live in New York and my ping is often 200+.

What are your system specifications? I need to know the Processor, the Memory , and the Video Card at least to make any judgment on the FPS issue.

I would say that living in NZ you will ping into the same server any Aussie player would use, so your ping is pretty decent.

Your ping sounds good to me really, based on your location. There isn't really anything you can do to improve your ping anyway, other than stopping downloads etc, because its based on your internet connection speed.

Your FPS can be increased by lowering the graphics settings in GW, but as Elder said, more info on the computer is needed before we can give you any further advice or tips.

Sorry for the late reply . . .

My processor is: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ 2.50GHz

My Memory (RAM?) is 2.00 GB

Not really sure about the video card but my Motherboard Specification says that the Video Graphics is:
1=Integrated graphics using nVidia GeForce 6150SE
2=Uses up to 256MB of PC memory (with 512MB or more total PC memory)

I hope that these are what you're looking for.

Integrated graphics... To improve framerates you'd need a seperate grahics card.

To improve your ping the only thing you can really do is change ISPs depending on how good your current ISP is and the speed you're getting. Apparently modifiying the TcpAckFrequency in the registry can lower ping by allowing your computer to acknowledge every piece of information straight away rather than waiting for it to "combine" and the acknowledge. However, you said that you weren't great with computers so I would leave that alone. As for your FPS, like people have said lower graphics settings if you haven't done so and you may wish to procure a separate graphics card as integrated ones aren't great for gaming. If you're using a laptop you won't be able to get a new graphics card for it so the only thing you can do about FPS is to buy a new laptop (not really cost-effective) or just live with your current output.

To increase FPS I would try what people have already suggested; lowering graphics settings.

You can also turn off v-sync, if you have not already done so.

If your fps is less than 60, turning off Vsync won't help. If your fps is 60 or more, there's no need to turn off Vsync.

Basically, I'd say that the integrated 6150 graphics are your main problem with fps. You might get some better fps by turning graphics settings all the way down. You could also try playing the game at a lower resolution. But, 30fps, if it's reasonably steady, is not too too bad - your only good method of increasing fps would be to get an actual graphics card, if your computer has a slot for one.
