Anyone who can get 5 mil kurz faction, can get 10 mil. It's just a matter of time (and patience) available to play the same thing over and over again. HFFF alone killed Kurz as a title worth being proud of, ever, and there have been a number of AFK exploits to get faction as a Luxon too, so I don't see what "value" is being protected here. Your "suggestions" are missing the point entirely; you're claiming that he's saying the title is too hard, so let's make it easier, and by extension you made up a whole bunch of easy ways to max other titles. The flaw is that he's not claiming that it's too hard to max K/L, it's that it takes too long to do so, and it's not fun. It's a game, remember?

I got my r8 Kurzick (2.5M Faction) the way of honor - PvP only, almost only AB, in the first year. It was far from great but then it mattered far more than a max does now. It was a PvP title then, not a grind title. HFFF ofcourse ruined that.

I got to r10 Kurzick (5M Faction - double the amount) after the massive update that nerfed HFFF, also the way of honor - doing PvP only - but this time mainly JQ/FA, it took me 2 double events (sacrificed 1 day per event). Crazy sickness - I got the same amount of faction as a year of AB'ing (casually but mainly during x2 events) in just 2 days!

But it was not the end yet. Since another double faction came the next weekend, I tried the DTSC thing and after seeing the INSANE faction gain rates, I've left the path of honor forever. It took me 1 day of farming that shit to go from R10->R11 and some more. Over 3 million faction in 1 day OMGWTF.
When next such event came, I've just hit the max R12=10M. Extremelly LAME.
I have felt far better with R8 back then than with max now.

When not max'able at all the title didn't feel like a grind title at all since nobody felt they had to max it. It was just playing and getting higher ranks slowly.

Max'able titles are WRONG - if there's a max that can be realistically obtained then everyone feels "forced" to get max, the title degenerates into MAX or CRAP.

Non-maxable titles are completely fine....except when other things refer to maxed titles and except when the title in question somehow affects game play. If alliance titles are going to be tied to skill usage, they need to be maxable, or at leat have a level where the game play effect is maxed. Also, thanks to the People Know Me titles track, titles need to be maxble to satisfy its requirements. Keep in mind, from a design standpoint, all titles are "maxable" anyway, at least in the sense that there is a maximum possible number of points which can be obtained and recorded. The question is whether those maximums are expected to be achieved. I personally wouldn't mind if they made Kurz/Luxon titles non-maxable, as long as they tied the kurz/luxon skills to the traditional attribute system (preferably to the primary attribute to cut down abuse... but this probably isn't the place to have that particular discussion).

The alliance titles have already been watered down immensely. Once with the doubling of title credit for donating faction to your alliance, which cut the grind by 50% then again in the title rebalance of 2008 when Linsey started giving out globs of faction for everything else. Considering people get the HoM trophy and all rewards associated with the title for progressing to only level 4 of the title there is no need to further water down the title.

Somewhere in the region of 3k hours, over all my characters. Some of it might have been afked for Lucky title, or idle whilst getting a drink/taking a leak. But thats over 4 years.

Every cent of my luxon title was gained through AB, JQ, FA, vanquishing, missions, quests and one full HM book. Never once MQSCed, or any other fast farming method people may have worked out.

If anything its as Shadowspawn has said, the title has been watered down considerably since factions came out and it sure as hell doesn't need to be watered down any further.

I maxed luxon in 2,5 months by doing nothing other than JQ. At the moment I have 15 million faction and thats only cause i stoped donating to the guild once i maxed it. Maxed all my consumable titles; and filled my HoM with everything off the sales of zkeys; with exception of the expensive promtional minis. So stop whinning Upier; and get to work.

I got gwamm last year feb. It was a memorable moment. I maxed 5 titles in 10 seconds of each other (all consumables; luxon and than zoned to kurzick to collect that one to) I recieved over 50 conratz/ thank you pm's from people that were sitting in ToA waiting for favor to be restored. Been playing for 3,25 years now. Have logged about 5000 hours; of which 1000 were spend powertrading.

And guess what. I have a life! I'm married and have a full time job that pays 5 figures a year.

3k - lazy or just efficient?

On the OP, going to have to go /unsigned, realistically there are 3 motivations to gain higher ranking faction title, HoM trophy, skill usage, and title for GWAMM. HoM - rank 4, 550,000 (only 225,000 if it all goes as double count items) is not hard by any stretch to achieve. (1 faction vanq a day, and you can get there in less than a month), the skills aren't that different from rank 1 to rank 12 that they should make or break your builds (and if you hit rank 4 for HoM, even less of a difference). Last we have GWAMM which unless you are a hardcore grinder, you are not going to get within a week. You need to max 30 titles for this and if luxon/kurzick is one of them you can easily disperse gaining faction between working on all your other titles so it doesn't become such a grind. (helps as well to focus on how far until the next rank as opposed to how far until maxed

I used to spend whole days (and by that I almost mean literally whole days) playing FA. 8+ hours EASY. Per day. And because this was before the titles were reworked, I was trading in Faction for jade/amber (since I wasn't in a guild and the only point of these titles was to own a town, and if you weren't in a guild that had a chance of owning a town, there was next to 0 point of donating when you could get stones) meant that I didn't get a single point towards my title. It was also the time when ZKeys didn't even exist. Which meant I wasted all my Balty Faction on making my account pretty much UAX. As I have said - I have Aspied enough to gain more than 1 mil Balthy Faction.
And yet after the titles were reworked into a PvE title I managed to gather more than 5 mil Luxon points. Along with almost 2 mil Kurzick.

So, I think I have earned the right to argue that when you have a title that maxes at 10 mil and you have 8 (or is it 9) PvE areas that give points towards this title and you need to VQ ALL these area around 40 times to get enough points to max the title - that something might be off.
And you know what, even after I'll max the title, (because there is NO reason why I wouldn't do it since it doesn't require any skill that I don't already posses, it rather just requires time) I'll argue that this game would be better off if there was less grind in this title.

It's no ones fault but my own, well other than some of the stupid shits in JQ I get teamed with sometimes, that after 47 months of owning GWs tha I only have 2 mil Lux Faction. I just didn't get faction in the past.

I plan to max the title, and I have no problems with going for 10mil with everything just the way it is now.

I'd live to get my Tiger from HA, but I don't HA much at all ever anymore so I'm stuck with 1150~ Fame. you done see me in here making QQ threads about how hard it is to get fame or whatever and they need to do something about it sos I can get Fame faster. If I HAed I would have a Tiger, but I don't, so I don't. No ones fault but my own.

I bet, with the double bonus weekend you could have had atleast 15k(60k to title)earned just in the time you have spent trolling this thread. I I literally mean only the total mins.secs that you spent viewing/trolling this thread.

Having ground through the Kurzick title, I think that there's way too much mind-numbingly boring grind involved with these titles, even with SCs. However, cutting the thing in half (which is basically what the OP is suggesting) is over-kill. The faction rewards for books is a pathetic, I think bumping them up considerably (double or triple the faction reward) wouldn't "cheapen" the title much at all. Also, it would be nice if faction earned while vanquishing was determined by who controls the outpost you entered the area from at the time. That would cut down on the tedium of doing the same area over and over and over and over again by opening up more areas for people to farm either faction in.

You wake up, play, do stuff, play more, do stuff, go to bed. There were days where I'd start playing at 10 AM, make a lunch break and a jogging break in the evening and then play till 4 AM. Rinse and repeat.
While it's really not a whole day, it still is a shitload of time and much more than most people actually play this game.

The point is that some of us really aren't "lazy" when it comes to GW. And we also do not lack the necessary "skill" to obtain these titles.
So the question is, why create these insane numbers that due to their insanity fail at their primary role - being the carrot on the stick?

Kurzick was insanely easy to achieve (well...at least PRE-nerf to the 600 builds). I ran up over 2 million donated in a weekend on a non-double point event to finish that one out too = anyone who wanted it had that one available to them already.

The game would be better off if the developers quit changing the rules on everyone along the way and left more of the game alone as it is.

It is like earning "Fame" in HA ... people who have insanely high ranks got it from running IWAY builds _way_ back when it was the rage before the massive nerfs first started.

This is something I think we could do without. I mean, people asked for more hours of game content equal to WoW and the like, so, this is World of Warcraft kind of game content for "dedicated" players.
