Two ideas for getting from A to B
mikejonesuk
I have two simple suggestions which may be already possible in the game but I just haven't worked out how to do them. If so, I apologise and hope you will please let me know how!
1. Have an option to make the camera view automatically swivel behind the character so it is always following behind.
I get annoyed when my PC turns to shoot at some nasty and I can't see what he's shooting at. I have to rotate the camera myself while I should really be clicking skills.
2. In LotRO, you can click on another player's PC and select "Follow". Your PC will then follow a short distance behind.
It would be nice to be able to follow other players and NPC's automatically. I just spent ages following Necromancer Nente all over Old Ascalon. I lost her a few times which was a nuisance.

Zodiac Meteor
Just double click a character to follow them, can be used with the party screen or just hover over their name to click.
The Camera adjusts if you use the keyboard to move, also when you select an enemy the camera will adjust to see it.
Both of these are already in the game. I would suggest playing a little more before making suggestions, since your doing skill quests in old ascalon I'm guessing your not max level.
Guild Wars Prophecies is weird, getting out of Ascalon is one tutorial and getting max level is the other Tutorial. The game really opens up once you hit level 20.
Also, feel free to PM me, either Zodiac Ele or Zodiac Meteor (friends list can determine which character I'm on)

I'd hate to see the camera automatically swivel. I'm the one who directs the camera, and thus what I am able to see of the battlefield.
You really should be using 1-5 on your keyboard to use your skills, maybe clicking on 6-8, and rotate the camera by yourself. Clicking on your skills means your eyes are averted form the battlefield, your mouse pointer is averted from the battlefield and generally unable to respond quickly to changes in a battle.

Thanks for your replies to my pretty dumb questions, folks.
I'm still not sure about the camera adjusting automatically but I'll try it out this evening.
As for the 'follow' command, I should have worked that one out. Of course, I've clicked on stationary NPC's and run up to them. I just didn't think of applying that to moving characters.
As for using keys 1-8, well I don't have 8 fingers
and the few fingers I do have are usually hovering over the WASD keys. However, I will try the mouseless approach this evening.
Once again, thanks everybody.
NOTE: Of course, I do have 8 fingers - just not all on the same hand.

To each their own.
I've spent the last four years clicking the skills with my mouse and it doesn't affect me detrimentally. It's all in what you're set up to do and what you're used to. If I tried to start using keys 1-5 for skills, I would be much worse off, at least for a little while.
As an addendum to Zodiacs suggestions, you can also click on a character and press the 'use' key [default is space I think] and you'll run along behind them.

the only annoying thing about the follow function in this game is that once you get to them, you have to hit follow again or you just stop
some games, once you tell your char to follow someone, they'll follow until another movement action overrides it.

That owuld be a nice buff, if you 'space' someone, u follow until another command is entered, even if they move again after u reach them
