Anyone know if trapping still works in UW? I haven't seen groups for it since coming back, but last time I attempted it, it still worked. Hell me and a guildie could even duo trap on Hard Mode, though I think they ended up nerfing one or two of the skills. But I remember running 3-5 man trap groups, still doable?

No, the EW nerf definitely didn't ruin team trapping. It's slightly harder, but 2 trappers still have more than enough firepower to duo it(I assume you're talking about farming, not clearing. if not, disregard this post). 3 or more trappers makes it easy. I haven't trapped since the Dhuum update, but I used to trio trap all the time post EW nerf. The skeles would make it harder, but I am 100% sure that it is possible.

I dont grind cause grind is boring and im playing a game so i figure why play if im not having fun?

What I enjoy most is vanquishing and doing dungeons. Thats pretty much all i do nowadays. My mes is my legendary vanquisher but im not too concerned about getting that title on him any time soon. I pretty much vanquish with a variety of builds and professions.

Good to know, and yeah I've always just cleared the smites, rinse and repeat. Occasionally getting one of the trappers the black widow. But thanks for the reply I may have to get a group going this weekend I think the EW nerf can be bypassed by having a third trapper focus more in BM.

Don't play as much as before. But some things I do:

1. Progress my mes to leg. eotn (will be my 5th)
2. Progress my war to leg. vq (will be my 2nd)
3. Fool around Vasburg on nec, riding 35+ minions in Eternel Grove in HM, just for laughs.
4. Play ZM/ZB on monk for immediately golden carpet treatment.
5. Lead noobs in ZM/ZB on scyhte war and show them how wars should do damage, not tank.

Invest that sort of time into WoW and you will run out of content there as well. Blizzard charges monthly, so they have added pressure to release minor quests every once in a while. If EotN was a WoW expansion, it would not have featured all dungeons from the start. They would have been done, but withheld to make later updates appear bigger than they are.

When Anet was only doing expansions with a tutorial it was also hard to keep up with the content. But now the players were able to catch up because Anet is working on GW2 for some time. Not a reskin of the old world like Cataclysm, but a real new game.

Once that comes out and Anet pours their resources into more content for GW2, I am sure we will have a hard time keeping up. Without the need for monthly fees.

I also get treated to things like this:

We were going through Venta's Cemetary Mission and he insisted that we go in a particular direction, instead of hugging the NW wall. I can see the Main Garrison ahead and say; Are you sure we should go this way? He says absolutely, next thing the warning about being too close to the garrison flashes up, again I say; Are you are sure? He says; Yep! and 1 second after that we get completely nuked. He says; Well I could be wrong!
I LoL'ed, so cute!

Yeah you are exactly right about the trapper with more in BM. Sorry I forgot to mention it, but I have done that a couple times before. It's a good idea for each trapper to "specialize" with a different spirit and specs. Good luck, I hope you get lots of ectos!

I used to enjoy going in a group trapping UW. For me it didnt matter about the drops, but more the fun of doing it and having a laugh on vent while doing it. I even remember getting a group of 7 or 8 together and trapping for a BWidow for each person in turn. Ahh the old days

These days I might do a mission, check the ZQ for interesting/easy ones, farm for Nic and maybe work towards getting a mule to him if he is in Proph, otherwise leave myself signed in until anet DC me or watch people - when seeing someone zrank another then I go up behind them and stick a gold sword down em ^.^.

  • Adjust builds I use
  • Play with friends
  • Make new builds and try new ones from other people
  • Urgoz, Deep, UW, DoA, Zaishen missions, Zaishen quests, FoW, and sometimes Tombs
  • Occasional title grind
  • Interacting with people in various ways that I find amusing

That's mostly it.

If there's a buddy that wants to play or try a weird H/H build I'll PvE, but I've already played through it numerous times. One thing that ANet's stuck to is not intending PvE to have any form of longevity, as much as they've tried with grindtastic titles.

These days I just log-in whenever I want to do an AB or something pleasant.

Since Ogden is unable to properly do his job in Nebo Terrace & North Kryta Province, I no longer 600/smite those areas. I have enough alcohol to finish Drunk title, but now the "easy" coin collection is gone, so no sweet or party titles.
When not sitting in Guild Hall getting drunk, I might do boss runs on my monks in pre. Just 1 more title (drunk) to have 5 and 1 more elite armor, I will call it quits with HoM. After that, just kill time in pre.

Unlocking and learning all skills.

Why?
Because I wanted to try out crazy skill combinations with skills I had no clue existed.

End result?
I figured GW is a hugely grind oriented game and has always been so from release day for Prophecies. Or how else would anyone call having to pay 1.2(?) mil gold to different skill trainers across the world in order to learn all skills so that you can experiment with weird builds and not be limited by the low number of skills you get to see normally in the (K) dialog.

If I hear any more GW designer saying with a smile on their face how GW was intended not to contain grind... I think I'll puke.

I currently vanquish. I'm also waiting for the Orr and Duncan Zaishen quests.

Now that SF is out of the picture, it may be possible to make those in HM without people saying "GTFO make a perma".

After that, I may just unlock all outposts with my 10 characters and casually gather points for titles.

I started playing just before the release of EotN. I used to spend every spare minute playing GW. I truly enjoyed it. For the past year I've mainly just been working on titles. I wouldn't say I was grinding because I work on Kurzik for a little, then switch to cartography, then to something else. I kept trying to mix it up so as not to get burned out on any one thing. But here recently I just mainly try to take advantage of weekend "specials" that assist me in the title gains and (being my guild's leader) helping newer players in the guild.

I have a full friends list. (I have to delete someone if I want to add a new one.) But I never see more than 4 or 5 friends on at any given time... and my playtime is very sporadic as far as what times of the day I'm online.

To be completely honest... if it weren't for my guildies, I'd pretty much stop playing. I'm sure I'd log in on occasion if I'm bored and wanted to kill a little time but at this point it's not really much fun anymore. Has nothing to do with nerfs or anything... (not directly anyways) just too many old friends gone and no desire to make new ones. That and the fact that I played too much the first couple of years and I just plain burnt out.

I used to get really excited about GW2 but here lately, that excitement has also diminished greatly. Having started 2 years late in GW always made me feel that I was behind the curve and the idea of getting in a GW2 in the beginning excited me.

I have to give kudos to Anet for having a great game overall. After 3 1/2 years I do still play fairly regularly. I purchased DragonAge (after someone here suggested that I GTFO and buy it) and while it was fun, after I beat it in 2 days, haven't played it again. At this point, I'll probably be too busy playing Diablo III to even notice if GW2 ever gets released. But I reserve the right to change my mind. lol

The answer is pretty simple here, nothing. I don't play PvP as actively as I did before anymore, let alone PvE, which I don't even consider fun.

1) PvP -> Balthazar Faction -> skills (you get them that way a lot faster)
2) You don't need all skills.

These days since I don't really get into GW anymore when I do play I try to see how many areas I can do in Hard mode without using gimmick builds and using my 3 heroes. It's about the only thing left that is fun trying to build the ultimate hero(es) that can practically fight on their own and all I have to do is lead them and pick up my loot. )

Vanquish every area with all 8 characters, beat every mission in both modes (master's) with all 8 characters, beat every dungeon in both modes with all 8 characters, do all the quests with all 8 characters, and try to get them all 20 equipment bags, as well as trying to max the Kurzick, wisdom, lucky and treasure hunter titles.

So far, only one has everything done (but Slaver's in hm). Everyone else just has portions, though everyone has the Factions missions done in both modes.

My GW activity wanes and waxes. I'll go for months without playing it, and then suddenly I'll get a burning desire to open it up again.

I'm with you. Have been playing for years and am bored as hell. What I like to do is reroll a new character and play through all the campaigns again. I make it a goal to reroll a character with a different profession each time, so I can experiment with each one. Also, I find it nostalgic, and sometimes I feel just as moved by scenes and characters as I did when I first played the game. I'm going quite slowly because I only stay on long enough to do a mission (I truly am bored with this game), but...it gives me something to do. I just put on music, go into auto-pilot, and rummage through thoughts while c-spacebarring everything. xD

I tried working on titles, but they're so grindy... Try setting a few realistic goals for yourself and work towards that. My goal is to get Protector titles, so I'm working through every campaign mission. I'm also trying to buy myself elite armor, so I'm working really hard to find loot. The game is slow as hell for me, but every little hour I spend on it every other day does some good. x___x

Psst: if you're at all decent at the game, you'd know that some skills flat out suck, and some skills flat out don't have a purpose on some characters. If you have a warrior, and you're buying every spell in the game, that's your own damn fault, because I guarantee you you won't be able to make decent bars utilizing every skill possible. Same goes for any other profession.

Theorycraft first, buy skills second. Buy skills that fit with the bar(s) you want to run. Buying every skill in the game is not grind, because it's not even remotely close to necessary, and it certainly doesn't make your character more powerful than someone else's, particularly if the other player is smart enough to be able to identify good skills and bad skills without needing to dump all their plat and testing them directly.

Psst. It doesn't matter when you're just dicking trying to do *anything* around because Anet figured that EotN would be enough content to hold us for 4+ years.

I Q.Q cuz I haven't done alot of the content and people either don't want to do it or don't want to do it with an inexperienced person. I've just accepted that I'll never do DoA or UW. I haven't even completed Sorrow's Furnace(I need help with the Priest quests)! This is probably because I don't use my Sin or Monk for anything and solely play on my Necro and pre Warrior.
