So after a long break from Guild Wars (I'm sick of World of Warcraft) I've decided to come back and start fresh. I've played through a bit of Prophecies (up to the ring of fire missions, I'm pretty sure) back in the day and but now cannot remember anything about the game.

I went all out and now have the expansions (Factions, Nightfall and EotN). I went through the "Which guild wars should I buy?" thread and it seems that Nightfall is favorable for new players.

So all I want is some opinions/answers on: What profession should I be playing if I want to maximize solo play and experience the content & end-game of EotN? (p.s. I'm sick of warriors)

Based on solo play, the Majority of players do start with Warriors (JUST LIKE YOU!) but i'd personally recommend a Ranger simply because they have range but also have a pretty high defense bonus granting you a lot of room to wiggle and find a build that YOU like. The second best choice (in my opinion) would be an elementalist, or a necromancer since, again both are ranged and keep you offensive with works very well with hnh (heroes 'n' hench) as opposed to healing which tends to cause your heroes to sit around with their thumbs in their ass's, but also keeps you (and your backline) out of the fray and thus keeping the damage where its supposed to be (on the melee and NOT the casters/backline)

See, just when they have buffed warriors (hammer & tactics attribute skills), you don't want one /joke. You would probably enjoy a necromancer with the ability to supply your own minion melee wall or a nice line of curses for damage. You have 8 character slots so you can experiment and find the exact profession that suits you.

Visit our Campfire section and read the stickied basics threads in each sub forum. That will give you a better overall picture of each profession and help you to select a good secondary profession. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/campfire-f17.html

Or, you could start the character du jour - the Ritualist. Although you would have to start in Factions, you could go to Nightfall once you get to Kaineng Center.
Ritualists have a number of interesting build types. You can be a Healer with a Restoration based build, or a damage dealer or spirit spammer with a Channeling/communing type build, and various things in between.
