NCsoft online Store Restriction

Hello everyone, I'm just here to give some feedback about the NCsoft online store!

After a long and depressive fight to get my storage chest in order I finally decided to buy some extra panels for it! As everyone knows buying with Paypal is not supported from the ingame store so I finally ended up in the online store...

First disapointment, you can only build one storage panel at a time. Meh not a big deal I will buy 4 in a row by clicking 4 time on the same product! the matter is that you can only buy 1 item/week

Seriously 1item/week (8.99€) they really need to say it clearly it would have been cheaper to buy one new account! I would have my 4 panels for less money and it would have been quicker!

So any one knows a online Cd Key seller for the guild wars trilogy?

Do NOT buy keys online. It is most likely to be a scam and you're better off buying a real box.

If the keys are legit and unused why would it be against eula? Though I never used one, I have heard of those sites (and pple using them), they merely sell the key instead of the whole box, without the bother, costs and wait time of shipping anything. Ofc one should be careful about where to buy so not to end with a used/not real key.

You want to give them money by buying 4 storage panels and they won't let you so you're now looking at spending your money somewhere else?

Way to run a business NCSoft. I wonder how they're still around... times like this I wished GW had a different publisher.

thing is theres no way to prove if the keys are legit until (in most cases) its too late.. i have a friend that tried to buy factions on ebay (he doesnt usually game and didnt know how things work with Anet).. he thought he bought the game but all he got was the physical disk.. no key and the seller wasnt willing to provide one. Lucky for him, it was only 10 bux but it could be way worse for someone else.

Yeah that's it! Found a website wish sells the Trilogy for 14.99€, got the activation key in less than 5 minutes and know I've got my 4 storage panel!

Seriously I'm a bit disturbed by that policy on NCSoft Store, why not create a limit of 50€/week instead of 1object/week seriously those who wanted to buy Grent/Dwayna outfits for Wintersday were doomed too?

Yeah, but there is huge difference between buying from some uknown seller on ebay and somebody who has a huge positive reputation (or between an unknown site and amazon). Sites that make money by selling keys have more to lose by selling you a fake/used key then a real one.

Business 101. If you hinder the buyer, they'll find another source of what they need.

To be honest, I'm shocked they make any money at all from the online store. Everything is so ridiculously expensive. $9.99 USD for a storage panel is just ridiculous, but as long as idiots are willing to use their parent's credit cards I guess NCSoft wont care.

I bought another account instead of buying storage panes. Not worth it. Wasn't even worth it when they had that little discount.

I maxed mine out and had the free pane too, nice having lots of storage on your account. I seriously wasn't going to do anything else with the money that was left... it was a visa gift card.

You can buy the games off NC-soft store. Still its cheaper...if you can find proph or the trillogy or whatever you want...Its still going to give you the four pages, AND hopwever many character slots for muel characters. I did this with an alt account, and though its les convienient it helps alot.

Once you've added the storage pane to your cart, click on the cart and type in how many you want to buy.

I tried to buy additional storage panes for 2 accounts (when Anet/NCsoft had the free pane available), and I was only able to buy/activate one pane per account at a time.

There was NO option to select more than one storage pane during the purchase process.

When I attempted to immediately buy another, I was given a message that I had reached a "credit card purchase limit", and had to wait a few days to buy the additional panes. (not sure if it was a whole week though).

At the time, I assumed the new CC purchase limitation was an NCsoft CC fraud deterrent scheme against large/multiple purchases, since I have purchased multiple character slots at once in previous years.

EDIT: I just purchased a pane, then attempted to purchase another. This is the message that popped up:

"As a security measure we limit individual online serial code purchases. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again later. If you have further questions please visit this Support Center article Online Code Purchase Limits."

We have implemented new purchase limits to help prevent fraudulent credit card use. These limits restrict the number of codes which can be purchased for each product per household and/or credit card used within a certain timeframe.

This is a system-wide security measure. Trying to purchase past the limit on a different or new account will result in the following error.

You have reached the maximum limit of serial code purchases allowed at this time. For more details on these limits, visit our Knowledge Base article for Online Code Purchase Limits.

If you wish to purchase more than the number of codes allowed per timeframe, you will need to visit a different online retailer or a local retailer to purchase additional copies of the game. We do not have the ability to override these limits on an individual basis.

No apology necessary! Somewhere in my wall of text, I mentioned also being able to buy more than 1 code at a time in previous years.

That's something they would do. Additional securities mean less freedom for those of us who are legit. My Credit Card's bank put a restriction a few months back regarding using the card at a gas station pump. Before the restriction, I could use my credit card at the pump without having to go inside. Now, I have to go inside to use my credit card, defeating the purpose of being quick at the pump. All in the name of "protecting against fraudulent credit card use".

Please. If they're going to do something like this, at least have users setup a security question so that each time we use our credit card, the system will ask this question. If it's wrong, decline the card. If it's right, accept the card. What these people are doing is restricting income.

They couldn't even maintain an existing XTH code/database. How in the world do you think they'd do at altering the online purchase processing?!?!? Remember not too long ago when people who were buying things legitimately from the online store had their accounts temporarily banned?

But that's how McDonald's became so wildly successful... "I'm sorry. We can sell you a Big Mac OR fries but not both in the same week."

Just buy a new game from newegg or go-gamer... both those sites have GW DIRT cheap and occassionally with free shipping.

Guild Wars is at the end of its life, Anet is trying to kill it off so that they can pay for Guild Wars 2 server when it is released to the public. They will probably shut down the Guild Wars 1 server since upkeep cost might have gotten a little out of their hands. I suppose if they don't want you to buy anything from them, you should comply and save money for lunch and dinner or go out with your friends. Afterall, you are helping them with their mission in ending Guild Wars 1. $8 can buy you a pretty filling portion of food. This pane, however, won't help prolong your life. It will take away the precious time you have - the time that you could spend with your friends and family. Fond memories last eternally and can sometimes give hope to you in desperate times.

Agreed. You could also replace the word "pane" with "game" and still have the same validity.

The thing I find amusing is that you can buy a character slot and get more inventory space from that! Why wouldn't you just do that and make it your PvP character? Not only could you store stuff on it, but you could play with it as well. Storage Panes are a crock.
