Guildwars Installation On Win7
monkoffunk
Hello i just built a new computer and i put windows 7 on it. I have tried re-downloading the game but i get an error, and it asks me if i would like to continue anyways and i clicked continue.. then once the game was installed it opened fine but when i went to click on one of my characters it loaded up to the loading screen and it had to download the entire place and it took FOREVER, and then everywhere i try to map to takes hours to download and connect, anyone know the problem?

that's pretty normal. the game downloads itself as you play. this means that the first time you install it, it can take a long time before you can load into a zone.
if you want to download the game all in one go, start the game with the -image tag. this will force the game to download everything.

how do you start the game with the -image tag?

make a shortcut of your GW.exe. then right click->properties on the shortcut. in the shortcut tab, add -image to the end of the "target" field.

I have had windows 7 for a while now and GW runs fine. It ran fine on the BETA versions of 7 aswell.
Also i had my install from a disk and i coppied the main folder over onto this hard drive to speed up the prosess and to keep all my skill templates.

new installs of guild wars has to load every place for the first time. once you've got it all loaded it will be back to normal speed again
