when did anet change customization?

my question is: when did anet change the character name on the customization?

heres what i mean:

i had my character name banned and was forced to change it. however, up until recently, weapons/armors i customized were still named my old name.

even weapons i customized used to use my old name, until now.

i'm wondering what update changed this.

for example:
2 months ago: my character name was banned
1 month ago: i customize a new weapon (still says under old name)
1 week ago: i customize another weapon (uses new name)

Customization works based on ID (example: 611342), and not character names. Character names are likely bound to that ID as well, but yours didn't update right away (or the old name was cached) so when you customized a weapon or armor while having your new name, the old one still being there popped up instead of your new one. The server looks at the technical jargon, the front-end interface is user friendly with names, obviously.

As far as I know, customization used to show the "new" name untill you mapped out. Then the original name poped out again.

Works like that with purchasable name changes, guess it's the same with forced ones.

My monk, all her armor and weapons were still under the male name that I had (bought a sex, and name change) for about a month or so.

I think names are attached you for about a month, I think when you buy new names they say something like you can only change a character name ever 30 days. I have also noticed once you change a character's name and try to add it to friends list it will say you cannot add yourself as a friend, but now more than a month later it says that name does not exist.

I'll resurrect this topic and try to ask: can anyone confirm this?

I once purchased a name change for one of my characters, but I was disappointed with the result: not only did the items already customized for that character show the previous name (that was clearly indicated and expected, so, no big deal), any subsequent customization initially showed the new name, just to revert back to the old one as soon as I mapped out.

Does anyone know if this would happen again after 30 days or more? Can anyone try this out and confirm?

My old ele name changed twice for more than two years (one for a name ban, one that I bought) and her customized weapons all showed the original name.

What if you customize something now?

In my experience, anything customized AFTER the name change would first show the NEW name, than, as soon as you leave the area/outpost where you are, the name shown will change back to the old one.

I'd like to know if this still applies after 30 days. Could you please try for me?

I bought a name change maybe 6 months ago, and the armor I bought recently (2 months or so) shows my character's original name :/

*edit to add* I see a bonus mission pack weapon I got for a hero is still customized under the new name. Remains to be seen whether it will revert to the original.
