Question about Nightfall and Titles

I've been thinking about buying the trilogy expansion and starting a character in nightfall, and on a separate note I've been wondering about the use of titles.

1) Nightfall and factions have their own starting area, right? So if I transfer a character from prophecies will I be in that starting area? (I'm referring to an area that would be the nightfall version of pre-searing ascalon aka the noobie starting zone)

2) I've been wanting to make a paragon because I really like their look. I've been wondering what kind of role they play, in pve particularly? Someone in a random chat told me they are one of the best for pve but he wouldn't explain so I have no idea if he was being honest.

3) I don't understand titles. I checked mine and I only have one that says "Baltazar" or something...Why do people seem so concerned with them, do they boost stats? What are the most common titles that people go after?

1. Hopefully I can be of some help, Nightfall and Factions both have a starting area that you can go to. But if you do come from proph or nightfall to factions ull just have to take a boat to the starting area with other ones like nightfall to proph and factions to nightfall its just a simple quest in your starting place to get there I believe you need to be level 10.

2. As for paragon your friend is somewhat right paragons are good support character for highend and low end areas there chants and shouts make mobs easier to deal with. If you wanna go highend like Doa, Uw, Fow Later paragons are used for those areas as well so you shouldnt have a hard time getting a group.

3. Balth is a faction for pvp players that u can turn in for skills and zkeys or other things. as for titles you have to click on the titles tab. Titles are for the eye of the north expansion and therefore go into your hall of monuments for when guild wars 2 comes out. if you need help just go to this link and it will explain them. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Title if you need any help im on alot of the time just msg me in get at Healer Fishy hope this helps.

1) No, you arrive in Lions arch, prophecies "port" city. When traveling to cantha you arrive in kaineng city, and in elona you arrive in kamadan.

2) Paras are popular because of their ability to spam SY (Save yourselves), a warrior pve skill that gives your party +100 armor. Apart from that paras are rather bland, but dont let that stop you from making one.

3) Titles are titles. Apart from that you can add them in the hall of monuments for some kind of benefit in GW2, they are worthless. Some (pve) skills are tied to a title track, though the difference between min/max level is quite low.

Yes, they do have starting zones, but they're not quite the same as pre-searing. Nightfall and Factions starter areas are affectionately known as "noobie island(s)". Unlike pre-searing, you can go to these islands with characters from other campaigns, but you won't get any experience there. You can complete vanquishings and missions for titles though.

A Paragon can be used as a straight damage dealer if you like. Your buddy was probably talking about an "Imbagon" support character though, and that's the sort of build most PUGs would expect. An Imbagon (Imbalance + Paragon - P/W usually)) is based around the idea of using an IAS (Increased Attack Speed skill) to generate adrenaline and uses shouts and chants to buff the group. Some of the skills used by a high-end Imbagon are only obtained late in the game though, so you may need to stick mostly to damage dealing plus a few buffs, at first.
For example, you may want "Save Yourselves", a Kurzick/Luxon skill, and Ebon Battle Standard of Courage, from EotN

When you bring up the Hero panel (H) the first tab is for "Faction" - that's where you saw the Balthazar thing. The next tab is for "Titles" and you may not see much there until you start to get some progress towards them.
The purpose of titles varies depending upon your own outlook on them. For me, they are a convenient way to keep track of accomplishments - for others they are a way to show e-peen. Some titles have skills linked to them, so the higher the title, the more powerful the skills become - such as "Save Yourselves" mentioned earlier.
You can go to this wiki page - http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Title - to learn more.
