Sandbox mode/characters.

Ok, this will probably never get implemented but I'm trying it nonetheless.
The basic idea is an area where you can test builds and such versus NPCs you spawn yourself. So-called 'Sandbox characters' will be like PvP characters; they can't leave the 'sandbox outpost' connected to the area and can create their own armor and weapons. They also have access to every skill in the game(including PvE-only skills). PvE characters will of course also have access to the area and heroes are allowed.
Of course the monsters will not drop anything or give experience in order to prevent farming. There could also be a Master of Damage-like NPC that records the damage you deal/take etc.
Example:
Your team wants to know if they have a chance of beating the Underworld on HM. You go to the 'sandbox area' and spawn 4 Bladed Aatxes (Buffed to HM level).

Fear The Apocalypse
A very interesting concept. I too also doubt it would be implemented but, it would be something that ANET should consider. It would be nice to test builds in an environment that is controlled in such a way. Nothing can be gained but the knowledge of builds, I think that is pretty fair. No drops, no exp, the question is, do deaths count?
I'm going to have to say /signed cause it would add a new element to the game.

Agreed. Like I mentioned... It's a great concept.

Actually not a bad idea at all.

Really, this is what the Isle of the Nameless should be.

This would really help out on the team builds we create.

I like the idea, but I don't see this as incredibly valuable to implement at this point in GW's life.

I like good idea and if it counts at all /signed

YES PLEASE! gives me the ability to see what I want to work for in appearance and what i want for a build, it could open plenty of possibilities in gameplay.

It isn't that hard to test builds. Outside of a few situations where it takes time to reach a specific lovation, this would not be helpful. Want to know if your build can handle Bladed Aatxes? Go to UW and try it out. Big deal, it costs 1k or a scroll, not expensive for people wanting to test this (farmers). Sure it would be neat, and I wouldn't complain if it was added, but it certainly isn't needed. I'd rather they spend time with skill balances, bug fixes, armor/weapon clipping issues, and new content (if any would get added).

The OP was using the Aaatxes as an example. He means he would like to try these out on Dhuum/Mallyx etc. and enemies that are hard to get to.
@OP: I think it is a great idea. I think even if they don't implement that they should implement the Master of Damage accounting for conditions/hex Degen/Blindness times etc. I know you can see those just by calculating it off of the skills but I want those numbers included with the overall damage that you are doing.
/signed for your idea

I love you man! ;P
Maybe along with spawning enemies from the game you could spawn and give an npc (or several) a certain build and test counters without having to test something like that in a scrim.

/signed. Would be fun, and useful in some aspects. Besides, if/when I get bored, I could see how many raptors it takes for HB/MoP to crash my computer/the client.

Your posts reflect NOTHING in positive...If you disagree with everything on GW guru (at least from what ive seen) then why sit here? Its a great idea, and would help us quite a bit...Not to mention when you're bored you can challenge yourself without conciquence to see just what your build can handle.
If i want to see how many ataxes i can handle why not spawn that amount and see what i can take, rather than go to UW and running around trying to gather them all up and HOPE i can hold all agro.
This could help for building things to kill Malyx, or other bosses in the game that are tough to get to. THIS is a great idea and i would love to see it done at some point...AT LEAST allow it in GW2
(This would also allow me to mix and match armors and dyes for free to see what i would want to drive for, Rather than buy Obsidian Gauntlets and shoes just to see it looks terrible with the armor i want to mix it with.

all skins need to be default PvP skins, tho. This game needs a sandbox area or atleast the pve skills in gtob as someone suggested.
Titles disabled while in the zone, too! that means no drunkard, sweets, etc.

Looks interesting. Probably won't see it in GW1, but would certainly be good in -2.
I'd probably be inclined to put limits on what can be spawned, however - at the very least, you should have to kill a particular boss before it can be spawned in sandbox. Some things should be experienced the first time the old-fashioned way.
Anything you might be expected to face in PvP, on the other hand, should be spawnable.

oh silly me your right theres nothing wrong with destroying game economies .

Oh silly me, pixel money should actually be extremely valuable, and god forbid someone wants to farm mats for their armor, oh what a travesty.

yeah. i have mentioned stuff like this before, but not in such a detailed manner. i 100% agree... wait.. .wasn;t there a mention of sandbox in Martin's recent interview... let me see...

As long as this cannot impact the economy of the real game (it's a separate world with no way to transfer items out from it) then I'm all for it. As long as it's separated it doesn't need any limitations, it can be full of imba, extreme farming, easy spawning of hundreds of phat lewt droppers. It should be all for fun and testing, for testing builds and for seeing a character in different outfits and weapons, total freestyle fun. Then /signed.
