This build is still in development and there is quite a bit of flexibility.
I got inspiration from this thread: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...t10430182.html

I saw that Whirling Defense is very effective against ranged foes and these are the results...

Now I would like to say my build is pretty bad in the picture. I thought storm chaser would give me energy and I was wrong. I am the strongest was not a good choice either. Also very important is that Deadly Paradox will cancel out Whirling Defense, this is very annoying and Serpents Quickness is ineffective because most of the time your health will be >50%. An essence of celerity would be very effective with this build.

Here is what I got so far:
Deadly Paradox
Shadow Form
Shroud of Distress
Whirling Defense
Dwarven Stability
-Optional-
-Optional-
-Optional-

With the optional spots we need to do three things:
1) kill banished dream riders.
2) more defensive skills.
3) Energy management.

Heroes were used to get out of chamber and kill obsidian behemoths if they are blocking the path.

Hero builds are as follows: (Note the Monks need at least 13 prot prayers)

[OwUT40nCx5goPMILBrvaMlITAA] Monk/Mesmer
Protective Bond
Essence Bond
Shield of Judgement
Arcane Echo
Optional
Optional
Blessed Signet
Rebirth

[OwQTc4nCx5goPyDW1bSFJlITAA] Monk/Necro
Protective Bond
Essence Bond
Spiteful Spirit
Well of darkness
optional
Mend ailement
Blessed signet
Rebirth

[OAhkYogYoIyz1sc+NdcezqJG7iB] Necro/Rit
Signet of Spirits
Bloodsong
Pain
Spirit Rift
Ancestors rage
Splinter weapon
Painful bond
Flesh of my flesh

Nice build, what do you think about taking out Weaklings & Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support and putting in the standard "By Ural's Hammer" and Ebon Battle Standard of Honor?

Also do you have the average time it takes to complete a run?

Could a Sin/Ranger do this? Please reply.

I'm pretty sure that ebsoh does not boost the damage and as a sin it does not last/deal enough, even with dwarven. buh will make it higher.

also, you could possibly bring qz and use it for perma sf and whirling

Yea I started research on this idea before I posted the other build that inspired you. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...t10428451.html

I however so far haven't found a combo of skills that I am satisfied with to justify the run. I also noticed the mindblades seem to scatter a lot more than normal mobs probably to help keep UW harder. I hope someone figures out a viable build as the dragon moss and another area I'm going to post along with CE DevilMans areas are quite nice for the build.

I guess overall I am just happy ranger can use SF in some form that is actually useful.

I tried this today. Had a buddy clear the way to mountains for me. When I got to the plains I gathered some aggro, killed the rider on the right with Whirling, then the middle one, then the left one. Tried to ball up all the mindblades and unleashed Whirling. the damage was amazing. and they didnt scatter! no wall block or anything! could just be my luck but I dont think it is. they had about 1/6th of their health left be4 i had to recast SF again. then a long wait for WD to recharge

1 big problem though. I couldn't maintain my energy. I had a zealous scythe, but I was taking way to much damage. so i had to keep using energy to stay alive. I had shadow sanctuary with me to heal (which, in retrospect, isn't a very good choice because the blind denies my energy)

So this build works very good, but it needs better e-management
I was thinking to bring Mental Block to stop some incomming damage, but I dont know how much good that is going to do

DS should be a waste of a skill slot if you cancel WD with deadly anyway might as well drop DS and take buh instead gives some health regen and few extra points of damage...
Going to try this later today and see how it goes

The mindblades do not scatter from whirling defense nor do the wailing lords or banished dream riders. If you can aggro 12+ mindblades at once the damage is incredible.

I am trying not to involve cons in this build but if you use a Essence you can drop deadly paradox altogether and you can (depending on rank in dwarven) keep up whirling defense 35+ of 48 seconds.

My mother's basement.

Me/

Imo:

Deadly Paradox
Shadow Form
Shroud of Distress
EVAS
EBSoH
Whirling Defense

And any two energy-managment or self defence skills such as Mental Block, Shadow Refuge etc.

EBSoH does not effect with Whirling. I was most upset, but that would have caused a very very quick nerf

yea it'd be all good if there was better energy management than a zealous scythe
