Done.

[JUNK]

I get it. It's a rule.
But you still get users that do not know of it or they simply ignore it.
And then we get to the real problem.
Then you get half the forum users saying that one isn't allowed to ask for builds (and that ends up being those users only contribution to the thread in question) and then a mod closes the thread, stating the same thing over again.
So how about if instead we were to simply link the appropriate PvX section (if the request for a build is in the mesmer forum - the mesmer section, the ele section if the request is in the ele forum, the farming for farming, ...) and a general thread that is posted on this subject in the appropriate sub-forum (the basic guide to playing a mesmer, the collection of farms, ...), telling him that if he has specific question about a specific build to start a new thread and then close the thread?
At least that way the user at least gets pushed into the direction of the information he is probably looking for instead of us just being complete tarts.

I get that the mods are busy, so this isn't only a request for you guys, but also for those of us that end up posting "You're not allowed to ask for builds". Just so that the next time we feel like posting that, check if anyone before you already posted those links - and if they have, just move along.

Sorry about the delayed response, missed this thread.

About the issue, I agree. I've been thinking about this myself, but haven't had the time to do something about it. What I had in mind was a redevelopment of the General Campfire Guidelines. Rather than a list of 'do not's', it would be a list of 'do's'. Something like this:

Quote:
*Before starting a thread, check places such as GuildWiki (link), PvXWiki (link), the forum sticky, the Q&A sticky (link). Also use the forum search function and look through the first few pages of the forum.
* If you haven't found what you need, then make a thread. However, avoid threads that are simply 'tell me this' or 'give me a build for this'... And so on. I won't be able to get onto this until at least the weekend, but I think it'll be worthwhile. Also, it'd be a good idea to sticky it in each of the subforums. I don't think as many people would notice it where it is, especially for people who click straight into the subforums from the main page.

Thanks for your concern.
