Why are minis of the same rarity more expensive than others?

I am specifically talking about the price differences between the mini yeti, naga, and oni...
I did some research and found that:
1) Unded Mini Yeti
approximately 911 in game
~900-1000e
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Miniature_Longhair_Yeti
2) Unded Mini Naga Raincaller
approximately 911 in game
~1300-1350e
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Minia...aga_Raincaller
3) Unded Mini Oni
approximately 921 in game
~1750e
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Miniature_Oni
So basically, my question is: why is the oni almost twice as expensive than the yeti?
I can think of two possibilities:
1) There are more known dedicated onis, so it make the unded ones more expensive (doesn't make sense because ded onis are more expensive too).
2) People just like the way the oni looks, and would rather own one of them than a yeti.
What are your thoughts on these price differences?

It depends on the ones people want the most. Simple economics.

Well your reason 2 is of course a obvious one, if more people like on of them, chances are less people will want to sell theirs and more people would want to buy it, which would make the price go up.
The less people want a certain mini the lower the price goes, the more people want to sell their minis the lower the price goes again.
The Whiptail Devourer is a good example of this, most people are disappointed when they get and will try to sell it, but will have to sell it for less, because very few people want it or are willing to pay a good price for it, compared to the other same rarity same year minipets.
So another reason is the supply/demand.Which may also be a consequence of the mini being cooler but doesn't have to be.There might be less buy-able minis so people have to pay more.

Personal preferences. The Yeti is generally viewed as ugly and the Oni badass.

Actually this has something to do with an old bug that many people with high end mini's exploted to dupe them. This resulted in numerous legit high end mini's being stuck on permantly banned accs. Therefore there is no known true amount of each mini left in the game. It is based on how many you see being sold at the time and over a certain period of time. Typically I see less oni's being sold since Anet decided to perma ban all those accs that had duped items on them therefore it may appear that there are less in the game then the others.
In case anyone was wondering where I got most of the info its on the wiki page under the mini section.

"This is a miniature version of an Oni.
Adding this up there were at least 921 Mini Onis in the game.
Through the exploitation of duping, there were countless high-end miniature pets that were lost due to accounts being permanantly banned. The actual number of these remaining in the game is impossible to determine. "

That is true of all high-end items available at the time of the dupe disaster.

I mean that your argument doesn't answer the question why the Oni is worth more than the Yeti because they were both available at the duping disaster, not just the Oni.
Missmelady
use basic logic. More people like the oni skin. So dupers can make more money faster by duping onis. Therefore more legit oni's were on perma banned accs therefore less exists. Thats my guess anyway.

From what i know, Ppl didnt dupe minis, only cash, but ppl with those High end minis took advange of the dupers and sold minis to them for ridicilous amounths of duped cash, Then dupers got banned with those legit rare minis..
But Yeah its all abour rarity & demand, Like panda And island guardian, Island guardian is way less even tho theres fairly same amounth in game..

I know for a fact that high end mini's were duped and that it extended to not being gold that was duped but insane amounts of armbraces that were duped. The dupers then traded duped armbraces for rare mini's then duped them.
(I know a few of the people irl that got perma banned for it)

let this be a good example of how ANET mimics the roles of the Federal Reserve System...ie, its not just "simple economics" when one entity defines the "terms" of play.

Sorry, but I gotta agree with Plekki above. From what I remember of the duping scandal, the dupe only worked on items that came from NPC's. Hence, armbraces, dyes, ectos, anything that could come frome a merchant or other npc. Minis do not come from npcs and therefore could not be duped. A lot of us who had legit minis certainly benefitted when those dupers were paying enormous amounts for them, only to watch them get wiped from the game, but if minis could be duped, then there would be a billion kanaxais, pandas, etc. The most pandas I ever saw in one trade bar was 5, and he turned out to be the guild leader of one of the biggest duping rings. He offered to trade me a panda for a vizu. He already had a vizu too, but wanted a second one. I searched like a madman for the next 72 hours for one, but that Monday when we woke up and read on guru about what was going on, all those guys got perm banned and there went 5 pandas and 1 vizu... {poof}. If he could have duped minis he would not have offered me a panda for one.

Another example of the unfair pricing is Zhed compared to Pandas (and Island Guardians):
mini Zhed --> a total of 70 in the game --> ded. ~1600e, unded. ~5000e
mini Panda --> a total of 146 in the game --> ded. ~10.000e, unded. ~???????e
the only explanation that comes in mind is that panda was given to championship and other prestige tournament winners while zhed was given through random picks in net promotions etc...

And from those pandas gives for sure atleast half got banned with dupers, and overall mostly rarest minis got banned due dupers prefered those..
