I've been practicing with RezDogg's 330 build and I've run into a few problems...
First, I wonder if there is an energy bug of some sort. When prepping my maintained enchantments, occasionally I will get the "Not Enough Energy" message even when I have plenty. Each spell costs 10 energy and, in one case, I had 36 and it would not let me cast. I had to switch off the Resto weapon set to get it to cast. Another situation I've experienced is when I need to recast PS in the middle of battle and, even though I have enough energy it says "Not Enough Energy" and then I die. Thirdly... I'm not sure if this one is a bug or if it's the effect of the damage negating skills... frequently when I reach 0 energy and am still being hit multiple times, I don't regain any energy from Essence Bond or Balthazar's Spirit. Like my energy is stuck at zero. This will continue even if I switch to another weapon that allows the 1 pip of energy regeneration.
My question more specifically on the build is this: How does VwK effect the needed benefits of the weapon? For example, the staff provides the HSR/HCT but also the 20% enchant mod... but if VwK is up, you not only lose the extra energy but all the benefits of the staff.
Should I be manually dropping VwK or am I supposed to let it run out on it's own like I have been?
And lastly, how critical is DP/Morale to the effectiveness of this build? Is the math in the mechanics offset too much to make it not work properly?

I've encountered no such bug playing as Mo/Rt VwK. Only possible explanation is the energy drop when holding the ashes, as your weapon, and so all of it's bonuses, dissapear. 40/40 set restoration for example, still works when casted VwK, so it can recharge it faster, but it wont work further, when u hold the ashes. Same happens with the energy, you lose the +12 energy of the focus or +10/15/20 of the staff primarily holding.
Only solution is monitoring over your energy and in case you dont have enough, manually dropping the ashes. When tanking only 1-2 monsters it can come to energy problems.
Oh and having energy on 0 and it doesnt fill up is possibly the effect of the ashes. For example if you cast the ashes while having only 5 energy and primarily holding a +20 energy staff, you lose 20 energy so you are actually having -20 energy while it says 0. you have to fill the -20 first before the zero starts to fill ( while holding ashes ofc) only solution again is dropping them.
Hope it helps. ^^

Actually when you drop it, you regain the energy taken away from ashes, which means you can use SB/PS again, and that results in surviving. Anyways, dropping the ashes is just a momentary solution to your energy problem, once you refill it, just continue to VwK as much as possible.

Apparently, energy is bugged, and you have likely encountered it. You can read the bug report thread here on Guru about it. Please read the rules of the bug forum before posting in that thread.

Yeah it's widely known that there is an energy bug with item spells.
