Funny account fraud attempt... fail
Diablo???
I had an email from "blizzard" trying to convince me to "activate" my Aion account or my Guild Wars account will be suspended.

These mails are getting quite annoying...
And to think that before the guru affair, I didn't get any...

I get them also and it only started happening like 5 months ago. I cant remember but didnt gurus database get compromised around the time of that incident i started getting phising emails sigh.

I think the spamfilter is getting them these days or they found a way to validate the email address, I don't see them anymore.
Like Guru and IGN? You don't remember how we had character names up on display? Though I am not certain about email adresses on Guru they did have a leak some time ago, and a few years back IGN had email addies in the open.

Can't confirm, but thinking back I didn't start getting these until the leak with Guru awhile ago either.
Oh well, they get sent to spam and it doesn't bother me. Besides, they're sent to an email not associated with any of my gaming

Thought I would bump this thread, there are reports of these emails being received by players of LOTRO and WoW. By now I trust we all know better than to fall for it, but I assume GW players are also being targeted and decided it can't hurt to pass along the warning.

i got my first one of those emails the other day xD apparently i need to give blizzard all my details so they can save my account and stop my details being stolen by someone who has hacked my account :O

This is one bemused gamer's sendup of the phishing emails. It's from the LOTRO forums, but it's too funny not to share.

This is almost as bad as the people who PM you in Aion to tell you your account as been suspended and to go to their website.
Yes, they PM you... while you are in the game. How the heck is my account suspended if I'm playing it right now?

^Might be a good idea to edit the link out of your post, you'd be pretty daft to click it and enter your details but better to be safe than sorry.

I've had a couple NCSoft ones, but I mainly get them about WoW.
They look quite proffessional, they'd almost be believable if they weren't asking for my account details. And if I had a WoW account.

Lmao, checking my GMAIL spam folder as well. I would LOVE to post this long link in one of the WoW Phishing emails, but alas I will not post a link of that sort here. Lets just say ... it has the word "Authenticate" in it twice, and spelled "authonticate" both times. I'm cracking up at this right now.
I ALSO got an email for WoW again in my spam folder, all about and for WoW, from NCSoft support. LMAO.
Hhahahaha. I have no comment...
