I have 1 account and usually do the traveler every week since it started. Probably missed 5-6 times. I have a gwen and a yak. Seems like pretty good odds to me.

Shadowhaze
I've done traveller most of the weeks since it's been on. Not one mini or everlasting for me.
Dzjudz
I have 2 accounts, done most weeks on both accounts so far. 0 minis or EL tonics or weapons. 2 Moss Spider eggs though .

You made me curious so I had to find out what a Gift was worth based on the drop percentages on wiki and the sale prices I looked up on Ventari. If you are buying the gift just to sell what comes out of it, each gift is worth about 3,400 gold.
Assumptions I made (based on recent Ventari posts):
party points are worth 150g
drunk points worth 100g
sweet points worth 150g
Green items in the 10-15k range
Minis worth 550,000 (Gwen), 300,000 (Yak) 175,000 (bunny)
EL Crate 100k
EL Tonic 175k
Method:
Multiply the item value by the percentage chance of getting it (ie 5% chance of getting 1500 gold from sparklers gives a value of 75 gold). Add up all these values for a total. That gets you the 3.4k.
So based on what I see in game now, people are overpaying at 4-5k per gift. As most people speculated, it is cheaper to sell your gifts and buy the item you want. Example 1: If you are only looking for Gwen, you will need about 550,000. If you sell your gifts at 4k each, you need 138 gifts to get it. If you just open gifts for it, you should expect to open about 3,000 before you find one. Example 2: If you want party points, a gift sold at 4k will get you 26 points while a gift opened MAY get you 21 if you get the disco ball (less than 3% chance of that) but more likely will get you 10 points ( about15% chance).
TL;DR - Sell gifts and buy what you want.

I have only missed a few weeks and have done nic on at least 2 accounts every week (some weeks 4 accounts)...I even saved up ~50 gifts to open at once (got 8 kegs that time).
I have yet to get a mini or any el tonics....have only gotten one moss egg, bo staff vampiric sword and icy sword...got 2 razors.
I used to keep a journal of my drops and take screenies....

Ive missed a few weeks out of this whole nic thing, and do this for 2 accounts. So far Ive gotten 2 Gwen Dolls. None of those special weapons or those other highend mentionables.

If you collect 5 gifts per week for a year, you get to open 260 gifts for the year.
Statistcally (based on the 8800+ drops recorded on wiki), 98.5% of those gifts are various party/sweet/drunk points. So the 1.5% that aren't means that you get about 4 total non-consumable items (greens / minis / EL crate / EL tonic / spider egg).
And if you buy gifts at 5k per, you have an 85% chance of getting a prize worth less than that.
