Low battery with Windows 7?
Zarion Silverarrow
I recently purchased this laptop (http://www.compusa.com/applications/...723&CatId=4938) and did not have a single problem for 1 1/2 weeks.
However, today I turned it on and it said battery was @ 100%,so I did not plug it in. After about 20 minutes, the laptop shuts down,so i turn it on again and it shuts down again,so I guess plug in the charger and see why its doing that.So I plug it in and it says battery meter was low, also it said i needed to replace my battery.About 5 minutes later,it went from 0% to 100% charged,BUT it still told me to replace the battery. Now I cannot use the laptop for more than 20 minutes without it shutting down, unless I am charging the battery or using AC power only...what can I do?I found many posts with this problem but most of them where in beta, and most of them said that their pc was JUST saying that battery life was low, when it actually was not.
I did try charghing for 1 hr,but it shut down after the 20 min that I unpluged it (with the meter @ 100%)
So how can I solve this?
*Wrote this yesterday,still same today*

To me, it sounds like the battery is dead. If you think the computer is just misreading the battery power, try reinstalling the drivers and see what it says. Or boot up a live CD (ubuntu, etc.) and see what the battery reads in there.

Thing is it does shut down, but it says battery is 100%...so maybe it could be either...am taking to tech tommorow...thanks for your suggestion, and i still would like others to answer their opinion/what they would do.

sounds like a bad battery, good be a power adapter that won't charge the battery fully, or a driver fault - but it sounds like the battery to me.

Working good now,I don't know why...All I did was charge it again and its been OK ever since...should I take it to the tech tho,or wait for the problem to come again then take to tech?

Don't do that, this is neither allowed nor welcomed here.

"Doctor, my mucus sputum was brown for over a week, but it's okay now. I was worried, so I came here with my napkin..."
Yeaaahhhh no. If after almost a week it's okay and you just keep it charged, then keep it charged. There is no problem.

My guess is the driver / program that displays your battery levels was incorrectly showing it at 100% (this is common if you leave your laptop in sleep mode). However the battery being faulty could also be the reason, if it does happen again just replace the battery they're like $5.00. (Or free if you actually use your Asus Tech support)
