PvE as PvP char in PvP areas
Dre
This thread gave me an idea
As soon as your PvE characters enter 'The Battle Isles', all the skills your account has unlocked become available to that character. You will also be able to wear PvP armor and weapons. When you leave The Battle Isles, the PvP gear will be removed again and all skills that are unlocked for your account but not your character will also be removed.
This way, you can save a char slot and use it for something else, like a perma-pre or LDOA char, or creating a char of a profession you don't have yet.
Ideas/Suggestions are welcome.

A seperate tab in your inventory for this would be great. I usually use PvP chars for PvP so that I don't have to set up the armour and weapons from scratch again (as the templates are saved but PvE chars can't access them).
The benefit of the tabs being your armour and weapons will default to whatever is on the char for either PvE or PvP. You'd basically have the same char set up twice, once for each area type.
Either that, or instead of storing armour and weapons you just have to unlock them. Then you can put them on and change them as PvP chars do (although this would kill the ingame gold and real money sink on storage).

I like this idea, but if we're going to give PvEers all of the benefits that PvPers have (easy access to all skills, easy access to max damage weapons, and everything), then PvPers should similarly have certain benefits that PvEers have in PvP (this one, specifically). I see this suggestion as making PvP characters pointless to have, unless you either don't have enough slots to make a character for each profession.

If I'd have to give a 'bonus' to PvP chars, it would be free make-overs, since (if you don't care about the birthday gifts,) you can just remake them.
Also, a few things needed for this suggestion already exist:
- Non lvl 20 chars can be upped to lvl 20 (Journey to the North and to a lesser extend Sunspear Battle Call)
- Codex arena lets you use skills that aren't even unlocked for your account
possible bonuses for PvP chars:
1) free make-overs, since (if you don't care about the birthday gifts,) you can just remake them. (looks and maybe profession?)
2) special weapon/armor skins only available for PvP chars (so PvE chars only get the basic outfits)
3) My suggestion in this topic (not a real bonus, more like a possibility)
PS: your suggestion would give a real bonus to PvP chars, compared to PvE chars (i.e. giving 8 extra armor to PvP char monks,... ), which wouldn't be fair, let alone balanced

Just delete your noob pve char and make a pvp char.
Sound familiar?

I've invested a lot of time in all of them (I have all 10 professions, gave all of them elite armor,... ), and I'm pretty sure a lot of people have done the same.

if you give PvP chars the ability to make q8 stuff or remove q8 in pvp im all for it. Otherwise, no.

I've always thought this should've been implemented in the first place.
Asides from obvious idea's it'd break down a minor barrier for those pveers trying to start pvp, as they would retain all their pve characters.

Definitely signed.
I agree. That, or remove those low-req weapons from the game. Guild Wars should not have rare items with statistical benefits only open to a few people - it runs counter to everything this game is about.

example with shields:
req - def
9 - 16
8 - 14
7 - 12
5 - 10
3 - 9

I've been suggesting this - giving PvE chars full access to PvP equipment creation and skills just as if they were a PvP char for quite a long time. This is the GW2 way!
Just make the PvP items created go poof when said char enters a PvE town/outpost (or find a more clever way of disabling their usage in PvE) and there are NO downsides to this idea and nobody would lose anything from it.
It would bring huge benefits for players who play BOTH PvE and PvP, would reduce a ton of hassle and save us from the need to have a PvE and a PvP character from every class we wanta great help for
Oh, and the low req items have completely NOTHING to do with this suggestion as you can already use them on PvP chars just aswell as on PvE ones.
I fully support this idea, big fat /SIGNED.

Also you can get q8-16al and q7s with 15, and q6 with 14. I think ur numbers are a little off there

I can agree with that idea if the lower req weapons also have slightly lower stats.
example with shields: req - def 9 - 16 8 - 14 7 - 12 5 - 10 3 - 9 |
This means significantly lower attribute investment for the same benefit, going to very few players. It is of course a problem.

The problem is that there exist weapons that have the full stats with lower req. For example, shields that require 8 or 7 strength but still give 16 AL.

This would be fine too. Be nice to carry skins over if possible, though.

Don't see the point here to be honest. However, I do think that PvE equipment should be organised differently. All of my warrior's inventory space is taken up by armors and weapons because I need to have the equipment for PvP. It's rather annoying.
Besides I want to use my pve skins cause it makes me cool.
