Shing Jea Island

I just started a new Ritualist character. Is there anyway I can get off the island without having to get a secondary profession?
MrGuildBoi
no. just choose a random secondary :\

You must choose a secondary profession. Having one can be very helpful, but you don't need to use anything from your secondary profession. If you're worried about picking a less than optimal one, you'll be able to change secondaries later on in the game. AND, once you change secondaries, you can always switch to any secondary your character has already gotten.

There's really no reason not to take a secondary profession. You don't have to put any attribute points in it if you don't think you'll use it (and you can switch your points around in any town or outpost, so it's not like you're deciding forever.)
I don't usually carry any skills from my secondary profession on my bar unless I'm doing a specific task where I know in advance it would be helpful. But having it as an option doesn't have any downside even if I rarely use it.
There are several secondary professions that mesh well with Ritualist-- you may want to have a look at the Wiki for the pros and cons of each and how it lines up with what you want to do with your character.
But either way, there's no point to avoiding choosing one. Guild Wars character-building is based on the assumption that you'll have both, and the game won't really let you go on forever without picking. So either read up on which be helpful for how you want to play, or just pick something and get off that island.

Why those long answers? This is enough.
"No, it is not possible to reach main island without an secondary profession".

No.
But seriously folks - to the OP - you sound like you may be concerned about making a bad choice that will result in problems later, but as has been said, you can easily change your secondary later, and change it as often as you like. For now you could simply pick Monk as a secondary and maybe use Rebirth, if anything. (Ritualists have several resurrection type skills, but Rebirth has the advantage of "pulling" the player away from harm.)

So I can't have just a Rt20 I can use to play on the other campaigns. And what about in Nightfall if I make a new character there will those be able to stay a single profession? I know you can't do it in Prophecies because in order to leave Pre you have to have a secondary.
Dzjudz
But why do you not want to choose a secondary prof? Nothing bad happens.

Who cares, answer his question, don't interrogate him.

To answer your question about Nightfall,
You can make a single profession char and then travel to and complete factions, prophecies and eotn with only one profession.
You do it by getting a ferry to consulate docks and then from there to kc and la.
You will also be able to use luxon/kruzik skills from any profession, which means you could technically have 4 profession skills on your bar at once. but you can only do this if you do none of the secondary skills quests in nightfall. having any non-allegiance skill from a secondary profession in your skill panel will prevent your from equipping the extra allegiance skills even if you have not chosen a secondary. (having 4 prof skills is the only benefit of not choosing a secondary and it is a rather useless one - well, that and running around in other campaigns with only 1 prof making other people go "huh?")
You will, however, not be able to proceed past the starter island in the nightfall campaign itself. To finish nightfall you will have to get a second profession.
Nightfall is the only campaign that does allow you to leave the starting area with only 1 prof - but only for foreign territory.

I know there is no effect in picking a secondary profession aside from some new skills. I just wanted to have a level 20 Rt I can play with anywhere.
Fedetic
You can just choose ur secondary prof and after u do that, u can change it back (in the party box) to Rt 20, so nobody will notice ur other one.

I've seen many Rt/N and Rt/Mo, is there a good build that these people are using and what is each used for. I made the Rt so I can solo farm if that helps.
Fedetic
Rt/Any can solo farm a lot.
Rt/Me will do I think.

Rt/Mo is used for 330 VwK farmer.
Also, check the farming section and pvxwiki.com for other farming builds if you are interested in farming with a rit.
