avast is ideal for gamers, it has silent updates (easy to set option) and even a gaming/fullscreen mode where it runs completely silently.
Avast has an issue where it interfears with most USB keyboards. It is well documented on thier web site. It has had that issue for years. I had an issue with Avast ignoring a lot of viruses, Avira caught ten when I switch over from Avast.

Anyway; Due to recent developments (the bait & switch AV bug). The OPs best bet is MSE, which is available for 32Bit XP SP3, Vista & Windows7. I have heard that Microsoft is dropping 32bit support for Vista & Windows7 but that is unconfirmed at this point in time.

Whomever said Norton is better than Mcafee is proven is still living in the past. Most people with any computer knowledge both are really bad and that Norton is more likely to cause problems and miss viruses than just about anything. Most people who work with computers like me have seen this first hand time and time again. I repair more computers due to problems with Norton than anything. Norton has the highest complaints by far over any anti virus program when compared with number of users versus complaints percentages.

Ok others have given really good advice no need to rehash it.

Don't get either Mcafee and especially if you value your computer don't get Norton. Norton = guaranteed problems.

I see it almost weekly. Its amazing people keep buy these two programs.

Have a link to this? A quick Google search found stuff from 2008 but nothing on their official site.

Yeah Snog, looks like it's been fixed for over a year now.

I would suggest that the Premium Avira is best version compared to Mcfee and Norton..

I personally use AVG, and I've had no problems. Norton - don't get me started...
