Just make a desktop shortcut 4 GWs & goto properties by right clicking on icon and add -image command after ".exe" file & after ""s.

Example--"<...>\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image

Must remove -image for game to run from icon after u update. Will take a couple hours recommend maybe doing over night or when @ work.

Does it work like that in Windows 7? I know my friend was able to use the -image command parameter in XP but he said he had trouble figuring out how to do it in 7.

1. If you don't already have a desktop shortcut, go to your GW folder (if you installed it in the default c: drive it should be in C:\Program Files\Guild Wars) and right click and drag Gw.exe to the desktop, prompting a sub menu. Also, if you are using a 64bit version, it is under Program Files (x86) instead.

2. Select create shortcut.

3. Right click on the newly created shortcut of Gw.exe and select properties.

4. Go to the "shortcut" tab

5. Under "target" there should be this line "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"

6. place a -image after this line so it looks like this: "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image

7. After updates completed, go back in and remove -image so you can run GW.

8. Enjoy!

Note: change the dir to your version of Windows 7. don't copy and paste.

Why do people do a complete update?

There has to be a "target" pointing to the original location of the .exe file for all shortcuts in all version of windows. You probably did a copy of gw.exe to the desktop instead of "creating shortcut" in which case, there is no "target"

I did this same method for XP, Vista, and Win 7 with no problem whatsoever.

Simply because waiting for an area to load sux, when you're actively playing the game? It also ticks some people off when they have to wait for you to load.

To be clear, people are talking about a Desktop shortcut. This is not the same as the icon that appears in the "Games" folder/window.
You need to go to the actual "gw.exe" file and right-click and select Send To >> Desktop to create the shortcut if you don't have one.
