April Fools joke. The game is not open for beta yet, and there are no keys.

Actually, there's a whole viral marketing thing going on for the next event (presumably the fifth anniversary.)

Check it out: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/o...t10432872.html

You do realize that was an April Fool's joke, right? There has not been any open beta for GW2, not even an announcement for any specific date in the future for that.

As for current and future updates, there is a viral campaign for White Mantle/Shining Blade conflict, a new warcamp was added to Talmark Wilderness, there is a new scavenger hunt with Lt. Thackeray, and there is probably something in store for the 5th anniversary coming soon. Patience.

Google is your friend. We don't know how it relates to the game yet. It's a form of marketing or hype for hardcore fans, I suppose. I'm guessing they are teasing us with hints about some new conflict with the White Mantle and Shining Blade in the future.

Last year the one largest update was the 4th anniversary one. It is likely that this year it will be the same - largest update of the year. There's a War in Kryta coming and all the hype and marketing efforts are greater than before any update ever, including Sorrows Furnace, although I don't expect anything anywhere that great.

we're not getting any new location - at least not as big as a completely new arena, mission, pvp format, or so. it's confirmed.

yeah how are those quarterly updates coming........eh.....that we've gotten one in a year? Would love to see that addressed.

But let's not get our non-hopes not up: Regina has been quick to tamper down any enthusiasm with the 5th year coming up by repeatedly reminding us there won't be much at all, and that the Live team can't handle much beyond the viral campaign and some in-game dialog.

While not exactly massive for a couple of them, we did get 3 content updates last year. Besides the Anniversary update (which I see as the 'big thing', not the 'measuring stick' as far as content updates go) we had the addition of Dhuum and mobs to UW, plus the costumes at christmas. Now we need Menzies in FoW

They gave up on the quarterly content updates and are apparently giving up on skill balances.

I have a feeling that the White Mantle/Shining Blade is going to be GW2's version of Kurzick/Luxon relations from pvp to pve.

Seeya then, cause I dont think GW has the mechanics to do that, let alone the people to actually implement it.

Judging from the previous work of the live crew, its a good thing.

We used to have somewhat larger fights in Hero's Ascent along time ago, maximum 48 players if I remember correctly. Adding that back would keep me interested and I would consider that world PvP until Guild Wars 2 was launched with it's supposed World PvP.

ah yeah, that would probably help, actually. what was it? Scarred Earth or something, 6x 8 player teams on one map. Bringing in/back something like that would probably be fun, and it doesn't have to be attached to HA either

That's what I think they should be working on 48 (6 x 8 Players Teams) in a Non-HA Setting with no linked title and random teams. This would prevent Rank Discrimination, Provide extra PvP Content (which we need more of) and would provide PvE players a place to experience larger scale matches which they never really experience.

Could also involve some sort of ladder system which rank's players based on Account Names in terms of Kills, Deaths, Amount Healed, etc.

I lol'd...hard. The thing i dislike about this whole marketing strategy is that if the content addition was really worth the fuss, then you wouldn't need to hype it up, it would hype itself from its' level of polish.

Secondly, if it really isn't such an amazing content update then all they'd need to do is release some redundant yet "new" GW2 info to generate hype for their neglected, jobless/homeless teenager that is GW1.

Oh I have come not to expect much from the content updates not because of failed promises but more so the size of the Live Team and the mechanics of the game. I was presently surprised with the menagerie and stuff from last year, but really if they could add the stuff we really want onto the game they wouldn't have to make a whole new one. I think the problem is not so much the quality of the content updates we do get but rather the too high expectations from people who know they are working with limited resources.
