Blocked "Official Wiki" images?? :(

Anyone have links or info on the recently blocked image linking from the "Official Wiki" site?

Not like they have any shame there having copied TONS of info from the original GuildWiki in the first place? Now it seems they continue the cheapness and started blocking any linked images this week.

Of course there is TONS of info from GuildWiki to the offical Wiki. Users have migrated and taken some of their written and screenshotted `stuff with them.

I'm still figuring out what you are ranting about though. Recently blocked image linking? Care to explain?

I believe the point being raised is all images in the auction site that are linked to the Official Wiki are broken, but images linked to the wikia site are fine.

Edit: Just trying a few images. Changed the image to both images that are broken in the auction that was linked to below.

But then this is not the auction site.

I have the same issue... all my auctions with pictures linked to the official wiki are broken... started couple days ago.

This probably needs to be raised in the auction feedback forum.

Re-opened thread. Keep in mind this might be just effecting some people, and might only be effecting the auction site only.

As it appears some here have also seen that images from official wiki are now all "broken links" at the "auctions" section at guru. I have not checked other parts of guru. There is a post in this thread showing Off-Wiki can be linked to in the forum posts (Thanks).

It seems images are being blocked, though auctions has a problem with broken links for normally uploaded images often too, which is why linking to off site links was so nice in the first place.

Does anyone have more info or any fixes for the problem with Official Wiki that still persists in the auctions? (obviously using other sites is possible and of course loading your own is the same old problem of sometimes working and sometimes not, I am hoping to see resolution to the problem - a use photowhatever storage)


You and some others might have migrated some or TONS of work, as I have done work on both sites as well (not nearly as much as some but greatly more then others).

However, I don't believe all of the images and directly copied works weren't done by original creators of the first works. It is possible all the copying was of someone's personal work but highly improbable. I have no respect for the copying without attribution, and its the lack of attribution that is the problem. I haven't looked up any work in particular, but I expect I could find examples of simple plagarism there pretty easily - and "that's just cheap."

Sure, it may be legal to copy open-source works, but it's still unethical and cheap not to give attribution for the wholescale copying of the works.

AWESOME! Much thanks for looking into it from the wiki side of things. With the previous problem of uploaded images getting broken sometimes, it would be nice to know if its guru's problem or not. As a trader, it would be nice to see a fix and even nicer to see images load on most of the auctions there.

Notice the images that come through in the auction are from the unofficial wiki and the broken links are from the official wiki. This only started a day or two before this post.

Hmm, I think it is kinda weird the Wiki images are only broken in the auction, but are displaying fine in other Guru places.

Good idea. Hrmm.. guru issue all of a sudden? Can you please ask around about this? I had asked about the fact you can't end an auction at a specified since 2010 calendar about 3 times through the auction contact page; however, I had to just give up on it for not wanting to be too much a pain and never hearing a reply or seeing it fixed. Much thanks for the help here with all this.

Are you guys sure you arent linking the html page with the image PREVIEW in the image code as the URL or the raw image URL itself?

It's the correct URL. See the examples above. Basically, in one day all the users that had images coming from official wiki just went broken...yet you post the same image link here in the forums (as above) and then come through. This happened last week, and appears to be happening only in the auctions. Seems it may be a problem within auctions itself, but it's not known yet. Wiki didn't change their file system to cause this; those are still all the same locations.
