Can I use previously own disc if it has all the key with it? I know this is true for WOW but I am not sure with guild wars since it is free to play.

you can install the game from previously used CDs but you wont be able to play (if the CD key has already been used)
You need an account - username, password and a character name

The discs do absolutely nothing for you outside of shortening the install a bit. To be able to play you need to have an access key, which costs money. Either buy a new copy of the game or take a big risk with getting a used copy where you have to acquire the username, password, and character name from someone else. Used copies are not allowed to be transfered to another person as part of the user agreement, so I wouldn't buy a used copy even if you trust the person completely.

To elaborate on what nomak said, you need a unique, un-used CD key to make your own account. Guild Wars Trilogy sells for around 40 bucks and gives you access to Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall, so if you want to play buying that will get you the most bang for your buck.

So basically all the people selling the game on ebay and half.com are selling a game that cant be plalyed. Glad I posted here first. That would have sucked to buy a game I cant play.

It's the same for WoW. Those discs are useless without a key. It has nothing to do with GW being 'free to play'.

Not necessarily true. While VERY LITTLE may be legit & 100% new sealed boxes, some will also not know that the key can't be used again and think they are selling a full game ... not to mention that there are also arrays of scammers who will say it has a new unused key.. and it dosen't. So you get boned out of some money, unless you can try and report. I don't use ebay, to be honest so I dunno. If I ever buy anything like GW off ebay It will probably be the CE of any campaign used or not... I just want the box and the cool stuff inside it for the prestige (plus the music cd's) .. I never bought the original CE's....

its the buyer beware on the second hand market any where (ebay, yahoo, other auction sites). Many sellers are either unware that they shouldnt sell a 'used' copy since it cant really be used by anyone else or are trying to make a buck off others who dont know otherwise.
There are many trusted sellers on ebay--some even have brick and mortar stores where they sell video games and such.....you just need to do your homework with those-----if you dont wish to then stick to the real stores that sometimes sell guildwars really cheap (you can do a search for the last thread about the european one that had factions ce for 5euros or so a while back if you wish).
There are still deals out there, the whole trilogy is only going for what $40 now?? Guildwars (outside the online store) is very cheap at most stores--not the ce, but regular editions can be gotten for $5 (christmas time I know they do that).

so there really is no need to buy a used copy since new copies from real stores arent that much anyways.

on ebay just ask the seller the question "has the cd key been used?"
