Hi guys. Im posting this in Technician's instead of Riverside or whatever, im sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Im using Avast for my AV program and pretty much whenever i go onto PvX or Unofficial Wiki (happening in the last 5 or so days only) Avast gives me a little popup in the bottom right corner of my screen. "Malware detected and blocked. No futher action is required".

Ran a full system scan just to check, i do not have any viruses or malware, even though this is only being picked up by webshield. Also ran a full system scan using Windows Defender. Nothing.

And, to double check i used my laptop (using the same Avast program). And the laptop picks up and blocks the Malware too.

If this is known, then i apologise, but im double checking to see if any of you have recieved any messages like this?

P.S. Not going on these sites again until things are clear or whatever.

It could be possible that advertisements on those sites are triggering it, if you're using Firefox try using SOME PROGRAM WE DON'T TALK ABOUT and see what happens then.

Using Internet Explorer. That was also my initial thought, still is.

Just to add, Official wiki doesn't give me these messages.

This has happened to me a few times while opening individual threads on guru. I've noticed everytime it does warn me of malware, the thread has a picture in it. Of course I messed with my Google Chrome and that fixed it. Sorry if this doesn't help.

SOME PROGRAM WE DON'T TALK ABOUT can be downloaded as an add-on for both IE and/or Firefox.

That's why I use the Official Wiki most of the times.

On the times that I have had to use the unofficial wiki and/or PvX wiki, I have gotten those messages periodically. The problem is in the numerous ads that are there. They drop stuff on your computer without you knowing. SOME PROGRAM WE DON'T TALK ABOUT has stopped all of that. I log on basically anywhere without harmful tracking cookies being deposited on my Hard Drive.

Probably any add on that blocks ad's as it would result in less clicks and since I'd assume that money comes in by click...I would have to suppose it has something to do with that...

but yeah...I would assume that it's one of the ad's on wiki...

http://www.websiteoutlook.com/www.guildwarsguru.com I mean this could be out of date or w/e but...no reason not to believe it...Please note that it's values only seem to include ad clicking so it doesn't include people who pay for premium.... (hence why the site I go to for *cough* videos*cough* is valued lower xD )

and sorry I don't know Opera

Opera can block elements natively, without any additional programs. Right-click on the page and pick "Block content" from the menu that appears.

Fine fine I wont mention "Some program we don't talk about" even though it brings me greater security online and prevents a whole slew of popups on many sites less reputable than your own.

But I can see it from your point of view.

From mine its a tool to be used wisely, for instance how many times have you been on a site and had a popup saying you may be infected with a virus click here to download our amazing program and cure all your ills, or click in the top right hand corner to cancel.

Idiots clicking anywhere in the popup box will regret it as the whole box is one link to install malware on your computer.

Experience people will terminate the box in other ways.

Savvy people will install "some program we don't talk about" and not get the popup in the first place.

Still as I said I can see where your coming from and I swear not to mention "Some program we don't talk about" again and to never use it on this site.

However it is the single most recomended add on for firefox so I recon others will probably use it in their thousands.
