Guild Wars 5 year anniversary event announced 4/22-4/29

Boardwalk, Beetle Racing, cupcake drops, and 5 year minis for those who reach 5 years.

I'm disappointed that there is no new content nor new celebration activities. I was really expecting the War In Kryta to develop into a full-blown in-game progression that our characters could participate in.

hmmm, how do you know it isnt? Whilst Anet isnt mentioning the WIK on the birthday page, I think they are timing it to still coincide with it. Thing is though, WIK is out of the bag, and I feel Anet would use the WIK page to further promote it rather than the Birthday page

I'm sorry but their 'exciting' wording is quite pathetic.Same old afkers,same old event.

Any word on the 5th yr mini's what they are ???, Has anyone heard what the 5th yr mini pets are going to be.

They probably don't have an art team big enough to do a lot of new content. Remember they are also doing the war in kryta event as well.

Yeah the party is pretty much a copy paste job; didn't they say theyre making the events more automative like wintersday/halloween. It may be a rehash of the usual but its still gunna be great. I can't believe its been 5 years
Yeah like Skyy High said, the party is ADDITIONAL to the 5th year update. So it looks like were getting a little bit of content.

The War stuff isn't over yet, you know!

That's nice to hear, but I'm a little concerned that I've not seen one ANet poster confirm that there's more to the anniversary than the minis and the automated same old Canthan New Year.
I've seen them post many times over now in threads discussing this, freaking out over whether or not this is it, and they always just sidestep that issue and, after maybe 5+ pages discussing exactly that, comment on something random posted by a single person like "Minis won't appear exactly on the 23rd for everyone"...

It seems like it should be pretty easy to add "And yes, we are planning an Anniversary update".

They've come out and said that the War in Kryta thing will involve quests and battles. Personally, I think that that will be our 5th year update, and they're not spilling the beans because a) they want us to be surprised (nod to those more interested in the lore than the gameplay), and/or b) it's not ready because Lindsey was laid up for a few days (I don't know if she's better yet either...). We do know that we're getting something, which is enough for me for now.
