guildwars account banned for payment fraud
MCS
Has anyone else been wrongfully banned? I obviously emailed them but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I found it really odd that I got banned for payment fraud when I physically bought my copy of the game at a store and even more odd the last thing I bought was factions when it came out.

Have you looked here?
I haven't actually been banned myself, but I have had a lock placed on a card due to fraud suspicion.
Your best best is to give support an email, but seeing as it's the weekend, it's probably not the fastest option.

seems like those are issues from making legitimate purchases online.
I haven't made any online purchases with regards to guildwars.

Your best bet is still to contact support. Sorry to repeat what a previous poster did, but it is the weekend I don't think you are going to get a quick response from them other than an automated reply.

The payment fraud may occur anywhere along the chain of sales. Possibly the retailer who sold you the game is the one who didn't pay Anet and this has resulted in the ban of the sold account.
Contact GW support, and possibly the retailer, too.

Furthermore, it's just impossible. ANet has no way to know who bought a particular box off of a retailer's shelf. If you buy by credit, the retailer has no right to share your information with a distributor or publisher who is not a direct party to the transaction. And, suppose the OP bought the box for cash? Please, tell me exactly how that can lead to fraud charges against the OP, given that the transaction is completely anonymous.
Finally, suppose the retailer sold 10 copies of the game that day, but only paid the wholesaler for nine of them. Assuming the customers were all identified and known to all parties from the retailer up to ANet, which customer gets hit with an accusation of payment fraud? Give me a break.

If that's true, I'm sure those who I pointed you at, ie. Anet support and the retailer, will have very reassuring things to tell you. It's them you should ask, not us.

Dozens of people on this forum have claimed to have been banned without justification. All claim innocence, of course. In some of the cases, Anet actually reversed the ban. So, rare, but possible.

Guildmate logged in last Friday to a code 045 (stated it was for account fraud) and a permaban.
While talking in vent, he stated he'd last bought something from the on-line store in February 2010; yet, he found it odd that he just recently got banned (for what, he didn't know).
After his email to support, it was cleared up and the account reinstated. Turns out, someone tried hacking his account via the NCSoft site. They got the code 045 right but it should have shown reason 2 listed here:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Code%3D045
"We have detected that your account may have been accessed by an unauthorized individual..."
At least they caught it the same day and took action to avoid a hack by placing the permaban on his account and then getting it sorted out later.
He also stated he received a false email (IP showed China) requesting verification of his Aion accont (he has never played that).
Note: He emailed them on Friday, Apr 16 and the account was reinstated Sun, Apr 18 after a seried of emails to verify he was the true account holder...

I got an email telling me my account had been terminated for payment fraud. So I tried logging in anyway, and logged into GW just fine.
Looks like this might be yet another artful dodge from the guys who hack accounts.
So, there's also that going on too...

I just got banned today for the same reason. Been playing since the start of GW legit and I get this! I was in complete shock when I got home ready to afk rings before the event ends. Waiting on NCsoft to see whats on the up and up and hopefully it was a mistake and gets lifted T_T
