Hi Guys

Apparently i keep breaking the rules of guru, because i got old threads which i forgot to close - so i got a question.

Is it possible to wipe all my old threads (or have a mod doing it for me) so i can start over?

Im not talking about loosing my "ban-points" but simply close ALL my old Ventari threads.

What part of the forums are you talking about? I'm assuming you're talking about Ventari's, (what it sounds like to me) and the easiest way to avoid the problem is to subscribe to any threads you make there to easily find them and do thread maintenance. Also, don't put off closing threads after they've served their purpose, that way, yo won't forget.

We do not 'wipe' threads, we close them. Simply writing 'close my older threads' is no longer valid, you really need to go into your old threads and close them.

It is very easy to see if you have any open threads....click on your own name and do a view public profile. When there go to statistic and see what threads you have open.
If you read thru the ventari's rules you will find that you need to put CLOSED in the opening post of your sell/buy/highend/services threads to denote its being closed.
We do not allow you to have more than one open thread in any ventari section at any time, though threads that are over a year old, for example, we assume you no longer are interested in and we assume they are closed.

If you have any further questions about ventaris please pm either me, Jenn (the super mod of ventaris) or another super mod.

it'd be easier to go to the section. Hit advanced search and search for your user name that way you don't have to go searching through a possibly long list of threads...

Threads that you don't edit the Original Post to say closed or w/e can be considered Open and therefore active...

Cosy has pretty much addressed it. I'm just going to reiterate her points and throw a few other ideas and tidbits out there.

Edit your old threads and clearly mark them as 'closed.' I know the terminology is a little funny. When a regular member 'closes' a thread in Ventari's, it simply means they have clearly denoted a thread as no longer active by editing it to say such a thing. Only a person with moderator powers can actually put the shackles symbol you see next to threads to actually lock it.

I recommend you get into the habit, as someone else has already mentioned, of going back to edit your old threads to mark them as no longer active. At the top, you can put, ***Closed by seller/buyer***. This will tell moderators to put the shackles on it, and for other people to not bid in it.

A good way to find your old thread is (cosy said the same thing):
1. Go to your profile.
2. Click on the "Statistics Tab"
3. Click on, "Find all threads created by [username]"
4. A list of threads you have created will load. Simply find the outdated Ventaris' threads and edit the top to close it .

We don't expect someone to go back and edit every thread they have made. If the list is that extensive, a person can just PM a Ventari's moderator and say, "hey - I have a loooooot of threads, and it's too much for me to manually edit them all. Can you just close them?"

While we will check to see if you have old threads and lock them, that does not negate anyone's responsibility to make sure their thread is marked as inactive before starting a new one. In fact, if a moderator goes to check and they discover you do have a recent open thread that is still 'active', a "Multiple Threads" violation will be issued.

Why? Well, how is a person supposed to know a thread is no longer active if it doesn't say so? They may bid in a thread that's a couple weeks old without knowing that at least one newer one by the same person exists. We find this happens a lot when people use the search function. Two weeks for a thread isn't that old, so sure, they could reasonably bid, bumping the person's thread to the front.

The violation you're talking about there is called a "Bump to close." Of course, this is also something you guys shouldn't do! . If a thread is no longer active, please don't bump it just to tell us that. Edit the original post (like End said) and type, "*Closed*" or any clear statement that suggests the thread needs to be locked and people shouldn't bid.

I was intending more for people who start threads outside of Ventari. Cosy's method could make a bit of a search for people who post alot xD
Lovely, we have many fine moderators standing by to delete and infract (as in: not recommended)
