Uhh I don't know about the US but in Amazon UK you can actually get it for about £15, which is probably about $23, if anyone's interested.

GBP15? is that including postage and handling, or is that digital download? if it is the latter, that would mean it would be cheaper for me through there than through Steam (Aussie $ vs GBP FTW~!)

Wait, so you have to pay 11 bucks a month to play GW (in Japan)?

Does anyone know whether you have to create the account through PlayNC or if you actually get the game key code, when purchasing through Steam?
I'm tempted, but I don't want an account that is automatically linked, nor do I want to log in with "[email protected]".

I bought GW through Steam last year for a friend, and yes, she had to go through NCSoft to register it.

NCSoft Japan provides us with two payment method.
1. purchase a copy of GW, then no monthly fees, as you know well.
2. pay monthly fees (30days play ticket).

And people go for monthlies? When they don't have to? Hm, I guess that's a kind of logic that misses me...

It might be cheaper and more efficient for RMTs to sub?

How would someone rate the process of purchasing and playing the game through Steam as compared to purchasing and playing from a place such as EB?

OK guys you convinced me... got the steam trilogy but im having a little difficulty.. hoping you guys can help

Now i bought the original game not long after open.. played for 3 months then quit.. coming back now. OK i went to start the download from steam and it says i have to link it to an account on NCSoft.. ok all good...

but when i put in what i think is my master account,,.. it just has COH and COV listed there as games. Do i have to make another account..

i have several chars on my current account and am hoping that this doesnt mean i make a new account within my master account means that i start over?

Please let me know .. thanks guys!!

On Steam you'll have to download the content, on games list click the plus beside not installed then right click and choose install. Steam can be a bit of a pain, I remember my brother got me LFD2 for my birthday, Steam started downloading the game while the disk was in the drive lol

GW's bought from shop, Steam, PlayNC, all have different issues, thank christ I bought from a shop, I can change personal info without being able to somersault through a flaming hoop while playing a trombone

Nope. Steam just gives you keys. The GW steam client downloads data from GW update servers like the retail versions.

The PlayNC issues are from linking the account. Not about 'versions'. There is only one version of GW.

Im one of the patient ones who have waited until a sizeable price drop took effect - so will be on for my debut later tonight. See you all in there Im switching to these hallowed halls from Flyff where the enjoyment for a freeloader is now practically non-existent...for those with experience with both - is the GW experience atop the flyff one with plenty o'er to spare?

I played flyff for just a week. Couldn't stand it.
GW kept me for about 3 years (well, two, considering that the last year I barely logged in for events).

If you are starting now, GW will give a lot of fun and entertainment.
There is a lot of content from the 3 chapters, varied and valuable (unless you decide to go for the grindy non-mandatory titles).

Just playing the campaigns will be very enjoyable.
THen you could decide to explore some areas untouched by the main storylines.
My advice is to not rush through things, not rush the storylines, and not rush to get the best equipment too soon. A relaxed pace will give you the most from this game, and it will be full of fresh things for at least an year (or even more).
If you manage to pull in a couple of friends (RL-friends) it will be even better.

So, your journey in GW begins,
have fun.

Ah good - rewarding to hear. I payed nothing ever to play flyff...but to honest 14.99 (what I jhust paid for the GW trilogy), would buy you practically nothing anyway...so seems a tremendously good deal to pay once only for a lifetime of gaming, (and by all accounts a far superior game) without losing out to those who 'win' by buying all the best stuff. At the end of the day, buying victory isnt anywhere near as as impressive as earning it. Don't get me wrong, flyff was a fun game...just I noticed a lot of ol' timers drop by the wayside pretty much at the same time I did. The cracks are peeking through.

Not even the full game. Three years after the last expansion and still no US release that actually contains everything needed to play the game.

I just bought this off Steam recently, myself. It's pretty much Guild Wars + FREE EXPANSIONS (except for Eye of the Storm, which you don't seem to be able to get on Steam at the moment).

Eye of the Storm!
That sounds great.
I think you mean 'eye of the north'.

Since you just need a single game to make it appear in Steam, you can get Eye of the North in GW's shop.
