Allow heroes to target other mobs

I understand why heroes always tend to target your target, and for most builds this is probably something you want, to quickly spike mobs down. However, sometimes you want a certain mob to stay alive.

For example, if you're running Spiteful Spirit, you want that mob to stay alive the longest so he can pump out damage to all his friends. It's pretty frustrating when you hex a mob only to have heroes all spike it down before your hex can do any good - it makes you fairly useless to the group, favoring only builds that just put out quick damage.

If you could have an option such as "target my target" or "target my target last" it would give a better range of builds for people who play with heroes mostly (most people) to use I think. More control is always a good thing in my opinion.

/notsigned because:

A) they dont always target the same. half the time if they have been attacked first, they will attack that enemy before attacking whoever you are after (unless you ping)

and

B) whats to stop you from targeting one mob and pinging it so the heroes attack that and then you pick your actual target and hit it with SS/whatever skill?

Because that doesn't work, and once they spike down your pinged target they are just going to kill your target anyways. Why have to ping every other target when you could avoid the nuisance by just having a bit of control over their AI.

Actually, I Believe that you can lock your hero onto certain monsters.

Henchmen however are a different story and will attack whatever you want to.

Cast on the target, then just call on other targets until the original one has finished serving its purpose.

/lock please, this is pointless

Look at the example. Hexes that trigger when the foe does something (SS, VoR, Empathy, Backfire) should be preserved for as long as possible in order to get the most out of them. The OP is complaining about how heroes have a tendency to hex a foe then kill them a few seconds later when it would be so much better to leave it for last.

@OP: I don't use those kinds of skills, so I have no personal interest in it, but I still don't think this is necessarily worth the time. You could lock the hero onto something else or call. Still, it could be useful.

Hmm... /signed for the idea, since it has no downside, but whether it's worth the resources is another discussion.

I run SS on my Necro frequently, and rarely have trouble with this. As noted, just start your cast of SS and while it is casting, change targets and call a different monster for the heroes to attack. Since you won't want that target with SS (or whatever skill you are using) to die, you won't be adding much else to it outside of skills that are already AoE (Reckless Haste). It isn't a problem with the hero AI (hench AI won't get changed, don't bother asking), but a problem with your ability to use the hero AI effectively. Learn how to target and call and the problem will disappear.

i see no point for this but then agian like you said more control is always good.(except when you then HAVE to micro manage the its a pain.)
so i could care less but like marty said theres no downside so /signed but id rather make something more useful so id put this on the far FAR backburner.

well, the foe u wanna cast SS on, dont make it your first target.
I sometimes have the same issue when i cast Spiritual Pain on a spirit.

sidenote: calling a foe a mob is a bit confusing, i thought a mob is a group of foes.

You have the lock target button in each Hero panel for that.
