Text Mod Cartography
Rushin Roulette
Hi,
I wasnt sure where to put this (Software, General update problem - here- or Explorers league), so if a mod wants to move it to a more fitting location then feel free to do it.
My Cartography textmod doesnt seem to want to load since the last update. Is any one else experiencing this and has anyone found a fix yet if it is common knowledge?

Texmod gets unhappy when it is told to mod a file that you haven't downloaded. -image your .dat file and see if that fixes it.

That isn't it, tried it now and texmod doesn't load up for me as well wich is pretty damn frustrating. 10 VQ's missing for Legendary and I'd like to work out the Cartographer title as well, Tyria is all that's left. Loaded up the Cantha file anyway since I suspected it could be a altered file due to the whole War on Kryta, but nothing as well. The problem is in some texmod-GW compatibility since doesn't load up at all since the last update.
I have every file too like I thought, -image did nothing. So now what? We wait on the creators of texmod to work up a new version? Hmpf... ._.

Works fine here.
If it doesn't for you.. you need to quit both Texmod and GW's. Update GW's (if necessary), quit, then restart Texmod and GW's.

Nop.
There was nothing in GW to update.
Re-downloaded Texmod and the cartographer files.
Tried running both .exe in compatibility mode and as Administrator.
Nothing worked... Man I really need this.

Quiet you!
Well the method I used for Cartographer (before I even knew Texmod existed) was to take a full map (there are plenty of high-res maps out there, just google em) and open it in Paint, then align it perfect with your game (works best in windowed mode) and swap between the 2 to look for discrepancies .
So if you don;t get it worked, there are other methods

@ Commander Kanen - PFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTT....sheesh.
@ orignal poster - I have had intermittent trouble with it not loading up even though it appears to be starting up properly. I close out GW's and click on the map package and click run, and that usually gets it going. It sometimes doesn't load the map either when changing continents. Again, a restart usually fixes it.
Do you run on different computers? I work between a desktop and a laptop and sometimes wonder if it is just updating the specific computers files on that machine?
Perhaps an email to the map author will be a more direct solution. Tyria is annoying, if for no other reason then the pathing. I'm at 98.6% and its getting thin as to wear those last percentages can be accessed from.

"Officially", they don't encourage it nor disapprove of it. It's a weird issue.
In regards to if it "demeans" the Cartography Title, given that the terms of completing it is INCREDIBLY ANNOYING and shouldn't have been designed as such in the first place, I don't see a problem with the mod. I don't consider the fact that it "takes more time" without it to be commendable.

Doesn't matter if there was nothing to update if the version of GW's changes whilst Texmod is running it will REFUSE to work until you shut down and restart Texmod... Hence why I said the proper thing to do is..
1), Quit out of Texmod AND GuildWars, (I'd also turn off and restart the PC).
2), Update GuildWars (if required), then quit GW's.
3), Run Texmod, use it to open the updated GW's.
If it doesn't work for you afterwards, you've broken something and it's not texmod or GW's that's done it. As I said before it's working absolutely fine here, with no problems. If you have a carp video card Texmod is likely to not work anyways. Direct X9 is required both by the video card and the system for Texmod to work.

Thanks for the move.
This is what mapping the more obscure parts of Kaineng feels like

As for the Tips, Ive restarted GW, Imaged it, tried other Computers, restarted them and nothing seems to want to work.
I guess Il just have to sit this out. If anyone had a similar problem and could fix it, then please post your method if its somethign different than already tried (Thanks for the sugestions already made though

Well whatever the problem was, it was in the .dat file, tried running texmod on the second copy of GW I have for Multi-GW and it worked fine on that so I guess it's something a simple re-install should fix.
Rushin Roulette
That fixed it. Thanks a lot Kupp. Never thought of trying that.
I guess Ill just copy the .dat file over from the Mule directory to my main account. That should fix it as well without having to download the whole 3.whatever GB again.
Edit: It wasnt the .dat file after all. The GW.exe file itself was the cause. The Textmod started working again after I had coppied over that file. I had tried the .dat and the .tmp files first, and neither worked.
