Ok, like many other, I bought Guild War Trilogy on Steam since I'm impress with the graphics and long storyline. (I'm a W/E)

But now after several hours, I'm still stuck at level 7 and can't even travel to Champion's Dawn (I play Nightfall) cause I died in less than a minute. Play almost all quest I can get my hands on but leveling is still hard.

Is Guild War really about grinding non-stop? Is there any way to level up fast at least to level 20 so I can enjoy the game more?

P.S: I actually play other MMORPG like Pirate King Online and the learning curve is low plus the community have a lot of leveling guide.

hi there

Guess I'm not sure how you are bored already but here goes:

Are you taking Koss and the henchies with you? Did you upgrade your armor from what you started with? There is an armor person in Kamadan that for a very low price and few materials you can upgrade. Are you being careful about aggroing mobs? Did you do the tutorial at the beginning?

Probably need to explain a bit more how you die right away.

Nightfall is one of the faster places to level, at least I think so.

PS as the person above said maybe an easier campaign. Prophecies is very slow but a good learning curve and great story.

Aleta nailed it, make sure that you always take a full team (4/4 for your area). the groups you fight are built to fight against a 4 man team.

contact me ingame (Despero Of Thanatos) when I'm online if you need any help.

First, Guild wars is a team oriented game. You are never meant to be alone, all areas are balanced expecting that you'll be in a full group. You will not, ever, be able to solo the game completely.

Second, Guild wars is not much about levels. You are expected to quicly reach the maximum level of 20, which represents the equivalent of "graduatin". The true way to acquire power is not by leveling but by selecting and using best skill combinations for the area you are in.

Or start on prophecies since it is much slower paced than Nightfall and Factions (these starting areas were meant for people who already had lvl 20's)

Ehhh leveling isn't grinding, just play the "story" there is no point in hurrying to get to 20.

I'm guessing you might have played wow before since you think being max level is all it's about, but in GW there is no raiding and such.

Don't forget to talk to Sunspear Scouts at resurrection shrines for a Monster Bounty to increase your reputation points in the Sunspear Title Track.

As others said, always take care to have a full party.
Istan is very newbie-friendly, you shouldn't die so much, especially if you did all the quests you should have a high enough level for those enemies, you don't really need to be lvl 20, that way you'd kill them all with your breathe
And if you find it difficult even at full party take care not to overaggro.

W/E are you using a conjure build?

Are you doing decent damage for a level 7? How are your attribute points spread? If your armor is runed, you aren't using all superior runes are you?

He likely doesn't know what conjure is.
He doesn't know what decent damage is for level 7 since he just started playing.
You could give him tips on how to spread attributes.
You could also tell him good and very inexpensive rune combinations.

Wow, I never thought anyone would reply to my rumbling.

Thanks for pointing out about Sunspear Moster Bounty and contact Neo Atomisk ingame character. I already upgrade to 4 man party and an armor.

About the quest, I complete everything for my level except for quest that require to go to Champion's Dawn. Btw, is it really hard to go to Champion's Dawn or even other places? How to you guy start out playing GW when you still noob ?

Champions Dawn is on the starting Island for Nightfall, press M and click on map to zoom out, it'll be tough at first until you get decent skills for you and your Heroes, probably best taking *Henchmen instead of heroes at first.

*Press P and click on Henchmen tab on the P window, always take a Monk/Healer

Do not use any Elementalist skills. Stick to warrior skills as you do not have the energy pool for spells. Make sure you have put all your attribute points (press K to see them) in Strength and the attribute for the weapon you are using. This will ensure that you do as much damage as possible to foes.

All this stuff is made so that you get the required minimum education about how to play the game.

As a rule of thumb, you are expected to quest in explorable areas where the enemies are equal or about 1-3 levels above your level. If you cannot succeed, you need to improve your team setup and/or your build, and your team mates are required to improve theirs as well.

The whole point of Guild Wars is getting better by improving your build. Buy skills from the skill trainer in Kamadan and unlock skills for you and your heroes for hero skill points at the hero skill trainers in Kamadan and the Great Sunspear Hall. There are other skill trainers with more skills. And once you leave Istan, the tutorial isle, there are Elite skills available with even more power.

The most important rules for your build until you know more about all this:
- focus on 2 or 3 attribute lines. At lower levels, focus on not more than 2 attribute lines.
- don't distribute your attribute points over 4 or more attributes
- use skills from your secondary profession only to support your primary build. Usually, only 1 skill from a secondary profession is used in this case. Mostly only a resurrection skill.

Rules of thumb for your team setup:
in 4-player groups:
- 1 healer (monk)
- 1 melee (warrior, dervish)
- 2 ranged damage dealers (elementalist, necromant, ranger, mesmer)

in 8-player groups:
- 2 healers (monk)
- 1 or 2 melee
- 4-5 ranged damage dealers

Thanks a lot Silmar & Darcy. Hopefully I get what I wanted in GW after following your guide
