So yeah, why is everyone HERE? :o
Benderama
hey i dunno if it's just me or has anyone else noticed more players in mission outposts? i know most people hang around towns like LA and everywhere (even ToA is losing districts D:!) but i swear there are more people doing mission in outposts early and further in the story.
is there any reason behind this like more new players or something? just curious

probably the $20 Trilogy on Steam deal
Barrage
Karate Jesus
Mintha Syl
I didn't see more people in the game but it's difficult not to notice the new players wave in the forums. Probably the deals you pointed, or maybe somewhere it's raining gw (alleluja!) or whatever, who knows
Painbringer
Probably because the player base moved from City of Heros to GW. I was just on last night and it had about 5 people playing that includes me and my 14 day free trial. Talk about abandoned wow
Bob Slydell
Maybe a lot of newer gamers who never played GW have heard about GW2 and wanna try GW, plus the trilogy. Also Gifted.. that's not really a reason unless you can get a Z mission quest for every mission in the game every day. But only one mission per day.
Absolute Destiny
Hopefully this new wave of players means the GW1 servers will stay active after GW2 is released...
cosyfiep
yeah I think there are a few out there who heard that gw2 might be coming out sometime...and since gw is available now (for cheap at many places) they are probably checking it out to see if they like it (and not knowing they dont need it to play the 2nd also a remote possibility).
damkel
Even in the European districts (which are most of the time dead) there are people hanging around merchants and the skills NPC. Fresh meat!!

I was gonna get it for a friend after I saw your prices, but after looking they are definitely not that cheap

I just noticed over the past few months that a lot of the older players are dropping out and a batch of new players is coming in...this is just my personal observation. Whether it has anything to do with GW2 coming out or not who can honestly give an answer to that. As far as im concerned new players are new players and the reason they joined doesn't matter at all. A MMO like guild wars doesn't really die it just plateaus as long as it keeps being updated.
@BEING BEN..
Whats not cheap? You buy the game and never pay a fee after that..its not like this is Xbox live or WoW...5 years of play on a game for just paying the purchase fee is REALLY CHEAP!!!!!!! Unless you're a total cheap cheap cheap cheap cheaper

A lot of my friends have been coming back and we've been doing a lot of the early mission stuff on different characters or trying out new things.
Yawgmoth
Observed an increased number of Pre-Ascalon and Kamadan districts in the last couple weeks.
I thought it's the 5th Anniversary getting people to come back to the game just as we remember how 4th Anniversary dramatically increased active playercount and not just in current Zaishen quest/Nicholas zones.

Let's even hit closer to home with games like AUTO ASSAULT and TABULA RASA published by NCsoft! Are those ONLINE ONLY games still around? )
CesarVerata
A friend and I just started playing a few days ago. One reason was the price through Steam, also we were WoW players for five years and got sick of it and needed something different. Really enjoying it so far and the community seems a lot better here.
gremlin
Games always get an influx of new players when they come out as a budget release.
I spent many happy hours playing such games because my machine couldn't handle the latest ones.
Of course the zeishen and Nicholas quests account for some activity

I'll answer this statement with a question. Are there still OFFICIAL servers for Diablo now that Diablo 2 has been out awhile? What about the game MYTH and MYTH II and MYTH III? Are they still on OFFICIAL servers??

Yup, us newer members to the game do exist. Though I've been around for half a year now.
Rhershy8
Watching the GW2 trailer inspired me to come back and play a little after taking a year off. I think a lot of the influx of players can be credited to gw2 hype.
majoho
I've only been back for some weeks myself and I've noticed that there are actually quite a lot of people in the Euro districts now. When I initially got back even the capitals only had 2-3 people in them.
Mini Vizu
there are no new players, only bots.
Mangione
I came back for the 5th anniversary, expecting something like the 4th.
Now I'm just waiting for the War in Kryta to roll in, just out of curiosity.
Then I'll go back to my other things.

New player here, hi ya! Bought the trilogy from Steam because it was on the cheapish side, and got hooked. I find the battle system much more nice than in WoW for example, and I'm generally just having fun fooling around in PvE. Also a few of my friends bought the trilogy, so we kinda like to go around together.
QueenofDeath
Obviously you can't read or comprehend. I said are DIABLO servers still around vs DIABLO 2 servers which ARE still around? Meaning Diablo went the way of the DODO bird when Diablo 2 came around.
Aleta
I think there are some, like me, that have come back and are playing more regularly. I've played EQ2, Wow, Aion and well I got tired of crafting and harvesting lol. And EQ2 was getting easier by the day
Plus I missed GW sure the news about GW2 finally showing up and the War in Kryta was a draw also.
Still after all this time GW is one of the best if not the best

I'm a new user, bought the game on Steam for $20 on Saturday. I just got to Yak's Bend on Prophecies, but reading these forums is overwhelming with how much there is to do!
Oh, plus, the Stone Summit have been killing me, but after my last session I found out that I can now have 6 in my party, not the 4 I have been using. The more you know.....

Id like to Welcome all the new players and welcome back existing ones!
As for the new forum members, Im one of them if you cant tell already. Ive played GW for just over 4 years now, and it took 4 years of playing to tire a bit. Ive been reading the forums for just as long. Decided to start putting in my 2 cents. Now, I have as much fun in the forums

Steam provides a neat flow of players (Most other RPGs in Steam require fees).
I think GW is the most sold RPG in the list.
It also helps when they ask other GW players.
Zaishen Quests also focus playerbase in one task. If you keep track of them, you wil almost never have trouble to finish missions.
Even when they disagree with some changes or evolution of the game, they will almost always make good publicity for the game.

...might be right though, I gave up CoH after 5 years and know atleast one other equally long-term player who's about to do the same... No point in paying monthly for something that hasn't added any kinds of new missions or activities in 6 years
For anyone who was here in the very early days of GW, or had ever been on Bnet in it's early days... this is really a frightening thought... So What happened, do random players on Bnet now threaten to kill your parents the moment you log in?
Nekodesu
I've noticed it myself, or it's just cause of the amount of time i use to stand afk in outposts in general.
ToriSama
Queenie, "obviously" you are too LAZY to go find out for yourself.....
QueenofDeath
ToriSama obviously you are a troll and I already know for myself 'Ron
