For the purpose of this forum, this means that we cannot - among others - post photographs, scanned images, or copied text passages from material that we know to be subject to a copyright. As a rule of thumb, if we need to pay to get it, or if it is provided by any non-public body, i.e. a company or an individual, there is usually a copyright involved.

Does anyone think fow armor will be available for either of the two new professions?
kicks66
i sort of missed the chapter 2 suggestion thread, but one thing id really like to see (maybe in a future update) would be 'skill sets' much like weapon sets, but you can only change in towns, especially for things like my ele changing from fire to air skills and other types gets quite annoying.

the expansion should be just that, an EXPANSION. i dont like the sound of a new pre sear area, i think the new professions r great but it should be an extended area. in other words, u should finish up the fire islands then take a boat or something to cantha where there r more missions, anet should try to mod the alredy existing characters and skills the least they can because that would pi** (not sure if thats allowed in a forum lol) the people off who spent so much time getting the skills and good stuff for there character, the ritualist and assassin should start in normal pre sear not some wierdo cantha monastery thing. simply put, anet should only make additions not change the stuff alredy there ps. make it so u can lvl up to like 30 or 40 when u get to cantha |
As far as I know, anyway, pre-existing content isn't being changed at all, except for some small PvP changes (primarily locations of areas). They're also introducing about 25 new skills for each pre-existing class. And I believe that from what the article said, any character who can get to Lion's Arch can get to the new area, so long as they've bought Chapter 2. In other words, Anet is giving you EVERYTHING YOU WANT AND MORE. Your original characters and items are still perfectly usable. You get a huge amount of new content. You can *choose* to start characters in the new areas and skip pre-searing/early ascalon if you want.
And for the level cap, Anet has REPEATLY said that they have no intention of raising the cap, probably ever, mainly because there is absolutely no reason to do so. They would have to rebalance all of the skills, and there would be no net gain--everything will get scaled up by the same amount, so nothing will change in the long term. Also, Anet has said that Chp1 only characters will be competitive with Chp 2 characters, so don't expect al 100 armor for your elementalist or 15-47 axes or anything.
Don't worry. Anet knows how much work you have put into your characters, and aren't going to force you to start over. Lay off the criticism already. If you don't want Chapter 2, Anet isn't forcing you to buy it.

It is hot off the press, just bound last week.
It is an American publication, however many copies are sent for Canadian and Foregin newstands.
You have found the right magazine, but the cover you are seeing is just the wrong issue.
You want February 2006 Issue# 259.

I think you all overlooked the obvious reason that America gets the info first. If you check in ToA, we have the favor of the Gods! lol. Anyway, I'm real excited about this too. Can't wait to see how the new classes shift the PvP dynamic. Anybody in the mood for (forgive me) an A$$ Spike team? hehe. And I forsee the screaming for a Ritualist nerf already. Its sounds like some pretty exciting stuff. Can't wait!

Mesmers have currently an armour that gives a bonus to AL when they are casting, an armour that gives a bonus to AL only against physical attacks, an armour that gives more energy...
So why not a new armour with same AL but new powers?

What i'd like to know is if and when there will be a collectors edition. I my self will be buying Ch.2 on release (i will be pre-ordering it). but if there wll be a collectors edition released soon after then i would have wasted my money.
I have looked on various sites and saw no information on a collectors edition of Ch.2, but if there was one I hope its released at the same time and available for pre-order soon.
anyone else agree?

So its only 2 Classes eh? Good cuz I can only plvl so much...
I wonder if the skills will be accessable from Fire Island Chain....
Will have to comb this Cantha for new elite skill using monsters...
this inate energy given on crit hit sounds interesting; Will have to see how that works with an Area Attack: Cyclone Axe; Hundred Blades; Barrage...
the ritualist's primary att probly wont be avilable as a secondary; but if it is my monks best friend (Dire UW Spider) would be pleased.
and more support healing!? sounds good.
does this magizine enclude a release date of Guild Wars:Chapter 2 Cantha?
I will have to check out B&N and find me a copy.

Oh boy. Rogues and Druids. sigh. I'm sure glad ANet gave us what "we" asked for this time.
But hey, who am I kidding... I'll be getting my hands on chapter two as soon as I can.

Hmm...I think it's gonna be a bad idea if chapter 2 is a stand alone game. Just think, you buy chapter 2, you only have 2 professions to choose from. Or, you may have access to all professions..but that would be unfair to those who bought chapter 1. I think it would be better if they would release something like an expansion pack and a stand-alone pack for new players.
i don't quite understand the "faction wars". is that like tombs wherein you fight someone from the european and korean district?

Hi, I've got a question to ask can anyone kindly explain to me about this? If you know and read the magazine.
Basically, I don't really think chapter 2 is an expansion but more of a, "another game" just that the way you play it is the same. (Skills style, the usual /dance and /excited. But there are some parts I'm unsure off and worry if I should get chapter 2. (Perhaps I missed those parts out please do enlighten me).
So basically let's say we all have really nice items and etc, are we able to bring to Cantha? If so, can I say that we can "import" players from Chap 1 to 2? Additionally, will there be a character wipe? (I'm sure this is a worry for many players).
On the other hand, what if we do not buy Gw Chap2? So the only thing is that, we'll be stranded on Tyria yeah?
It's kind of weird and say "unfair" for newer players whom maybe buy gw2 and not gw1. Cause the items we brought over are non-starters stuff and ritualist + assassins are brand new classes... Oh and, is it possible to play Gw2 without Gw1? Or it is like, Diablo2 + D2 Expansion?
Please do enlighten me, thanks.
Regards
Al

qwerty, Chapter 2 is an expansion, but can stand alone. Players can play Chapter 1 seperately from Chapter 2. Also works in the reverse... you can play Chapter 2 without playing Chapter 1. So yes, if you do not buy Chapter 2 you will not be able to have the new content.
Your current characters (and their possessions) will be able to go to the new continent of Cantha, and they have even allowed for the changing of your secondary profession to the new assassin or ritualist.

i was looking over the thread and i have been thinking about a few things.
From what i read we can take our currnet chars over to Cantha and they can still come back to Tyria. Now the new professions start out in Cantha. Will these new profession be able to come to Tyria and do the missions over here and will our current chars go over to Cantha and do those missions.
Also, the chars that go over to Cantha from Tyria, will the armor that you buy in the first town be like Ascalon level armor or will it be like Droks armor. Course if its like Ascalon armor then it will work its way up all the way to new 15k armor like it did in Ch. 1 (would really like that, new 15k armor).
I was also reading that when we go over to Cantha we will have the option of changing to Ritualist and Assassin. Will these class changes come in the form of quests like in the crystal desert or will it just be a option given to you by a NPC.

Its already been said that Chapater 1 ppl can see/hear/interact with the chapter 2 people; chapter 2 ppl will only have access to the new things.
I Hope that there will be assassins and ritualists in pre-searing of asaclon.

Ok, I know this is a PvP game, but I really don't like the idea for people to learn the storyline to have to fight other people. I really don't like PvP, and that is why I got this game. No running through a town and suddenly dying. Now, if those PvP missions don't relate to the story and just give bonuses, I'm all for it.

where do you get this running through town dropping dead when one of the main selling points is no ganking?
where you can be killed will still be in specified areas not general killing all over the place.
they take the *i dont want to be ambushed people seriously*
chris_nin00
With the Ritualist, the 'Spirit Spammer' will be a shouted term in all arenas!
I don't think there is a way to farm with these new professions. Unless someone can prove me wrong.
I am pre-ordering the collectors edition if there is going to be one.
$50 bucks for a trip to a fictional looking China? Put me on.

Athis Strider
Rofl Lmao,
I have read countless threads about people irritated and completely pissed off about joining PUGS and going against AI. So much so in fact that some players try the entire game with Henchies. Now if I understand this right we are going to join PUGS in the RPG aspect (PvE) and go against eachother in a PvP type style! OMG That's going to seriously piss players off! Its one thing to get annoyed by losing with a bad PUG to AI, but losing to Real Life players is going to put some people over the top! Get ready to see alot of this in up coming forums... LOL

i think the key sentence in it is the following.
Quote:
*THE PLAYER HAS THE OPTION TO JOIN ONE OF THE 2 WARRING FACTIONS* |
also stated in the article.
We`ve [now] seen that many players want to continue to focus exclusively on role-playing content.
The solution: Guild Wars : factions*
i dont know the details but those statements look promising for PVE only people
stillious
So now ive seen all the new stuff, i can't wait to get started in the 2nd chapter... Does any1 know the release date of it?
Flames of Sorrow
Um........the front page of the site is misleading. It lead me to believe I would be reading the article, not somebodys post about it. And where are the screenshots that it also mentioned on the front page?

By the way, any ideas if there are additional items for each class? Kinda excited over items than skills/armours.
Like new cool looking... "Kell Blade" or something. (Sounds asian lol).
Or.. The Luxon Blade. Hurhur.

I don't mind a little PVP in my RPG. A word on Henchmen, you cannot beat guild wars using only henchmen as many of you know. Try playing sorrows furnace High Priest and you will see. I don't see the price of the expansion posted anywhere, why do people think it's $50.00? If it is it would have to be as big as the original. I would think it would be somewhere around $30.00. The reason I say that is you have to buy the original game to play it.

What issue of computer gaming is this in? January? February?

I've read the article.
Summarized: Actually it is not clear 25 skills for each class or 25 total. I guess they will be 25 total, 3-5 for each class, otherwise skills would get too much reapative (without loosing the class inidividuality).
Exp2 people will get access to some basic skills from the first game, so they won't end with only their 2 new classes.
Some missions will allow 2 teams to fight the evil OR 2 teams to compete for a certain objective.
New pvp missions that will provide alliance matches of several teams(whatever that means in details) that fight for teritory - and capture territory. I guess there will be maps, that will represent different territories and when your teams win on such a map they will gain benefits on it. Something like accessing FoW and Underworld.
My thoughts - sounds very interesting. Do not haste to shoot flame and lighting vs arena net - the game is still not out and I am sure the developers will make it good and enjoyable.
