Thinking about starting out.

Okay I really want to experience the game and all, but I'm all all about the PvP. So my question is, if you have a PvE character and you level him/her up to level 20 capped or whatever... can he then be a PvP character?

Also,, is it worth it for me to even bother since GW2 is coming out. Do you think GW1 is going anywhere after GW2 in terms of population AND competition tournaments?

OH my other question. I'm playing the trial and all... what packages or whatever should I buy if I want to PvP and all that... what should I buy/download in the order of release?

Experience the game on a PvE char, once you hit level 20 you can do some PvP. Keep in mind though You'll need to obtain skills and armor and other gear the normal PvE way as only PvP characters have access instantly to free armor and gear. As well as all UNLOCKED skills on your account.

If you want to go all out for PvP I believe there is a PvP package in the online store, otherwise just get the trilogy

Keep in mind that if you buy any pvp unlock packs, that stuff will only be available to you on a pvp-made character. All skills and items must be physically acquired on a pve character. PvP-characters are genrally easier to adapt to different builds and situations for pvp, but if u can get all the gear in pve, u can absolutely pvp with ur pve-made character if you want to. As for gw2, that is still quite a long ways away and gw would be an excellent thing to do in the meantime.

if your "all about the pvp" like you say you are, why would you want to try and pvp with a pve chara? it takes a lot more work to get a pve-chara "pvp ready", but yes you can if you really wanted to put in the effort. also, gw2 is coming out next year.
