What is a 600/smite team, why Spirit Bond?

I was wondering why the 600/smite is so popular, and how it worked. I've looked on PvX and to me, it seems that Spirit Bond is the main skill that keeps the 600 monk alive, but the major flaw i see is that it ends after 10 attacks, so if you take on 10 or more mobs you would have a hard time with energy spamming Spirit Bond, AND if you tryed to take on 15 or so it would drop to fast. Maybe I'm not seeing something vital, but i think that a Mo/Me 105/55 invincible monk would work many times better than the 600s I have seen on PvX. 105/smite, I like it...

shield of absorbtion(SoA) drops all damage down to zero after being hit so many times. Spirit Bond will keep u up long enough in-between re-casts of SoA. Also, even with SoA reduces dmg down to zero, Spirit Bond still triggers from being attacked to heal you (Prolly because initial dmg is high enough before it undergoes reduction to trigger it). so basically, u can be healed from spirit bond uber amounts while SoA drops the dmg ur taking down to nil.

in regards to energy concerns you'll gain 1 energy per hit, so if it costs 10en to cast, and ends in 10 attacks, you'll gain back that 10en everytime.

you would usually have balthazar's spirit + essence bond on you, so you would gain +2e almost every time you were hit. there are some limitations on when essence bond triggers, so sometimes you would only get +1, but putting up SoA lets you soak up damage without maintaining spirit bond and recharge your energy for free.

Easy way to understand 600 part.

Protective Spirit is what keeps you alive! Spirit Bond is what heals you.

PS 10%-600= 60 so your max damage done to you is 60.
SB Heals you 60+ amount when you take 60 or more damage.

Damage -60 Heal +60

Plain and simple.

Spirit Bond actually heals for more than 60 unless you run 5 or less in Protection Prayers. But it triggers whenever you would have taken 60 or more damage, even if the damage is reduced by other effects.
