So I'm looking to make a 55 necro using SS and I was wondering, does the armor value actually matter? (like the 35 armor vs. 60 armor on a piece?)

the less dmg you take, the better. so it doesnt really matter to much. opposite concept of 600.

so....i can just go for the 30 armor one and it doesn't make a difference eh? no need to spend too much money on the 60 armor set

Won't matter what armor you have for a 55 build. With 55 health and Protective Spirit active, the damage you take is always 5. Doesn't matter if you have 5 armor from starter armor sets, or if you have 1000 armor. And just in case you aren't aware, Spiteful Spirit works well for groups, but Spoil Victor is very good for a 55 since you will rarely have more health than the target.

It does matter only if you use Spirit Bond, since

Quote:
This skill will trigger if damage taken is above 60 before any damage reduction (such as from Protective Spirit or Reversal of Fortune) or any damage increase
When you are facing a lot of opponents, you want Spirit Bond to trigger as often as possible, to heal you. With a lower AL armor the number of hits which would do more than 60 damage (before any damage reduction) will be more than those received wearing an armor with higher AL, so Spirit Bond will trigger more often.

So to obtain better results from Spirit Bond, you have to use armor with lower AL: the lower, the best. If you don't use Spirit Bond, armor doesn't make any difference.

N.B. This is the very reason why the 600 build needs a low AL armor: it doesn't depend on the build itself, but on the presence of this particular skill, Spirit Bond.

I think spiteful spirit is a better choice since spoil victor is more for boss farming, etc.

Anyways, thanks for the answers guys!

He is talking about 55ing, he won't need SB since the dmg won't go over 5.

SB doesn't know that he takes only 5 dmg Every time you are hit and the damage is greater than 60 before the effect of protective spirit, then SB triggers.

Actually, SB is very useful to 55, try it out if you don't believe me^^

If you use [[Spirit Bond] as a secondary healing skill, your armor should not be any better than AL 30.

For 55, it doesn't matter since any hit outside of [[Protective Spirit] would probably result in death.

It is also a good idea to bring a second set of armor. This will allow you to adjust your health manually based on any Death Penalty you might accumulate.
