Why do AFK mission runners ask for vampiric weapons?
ChromisElda
Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere but I couldn't find it through the search function or FAQ section.
I was wondering why runners ask the people they are helping to carry vampiric weapons in the run if they are going to be AFK. Surely they would die as a result, but how would this benefit the runner?

if the runner dies or fails he can just restart instead of trying to get the afk'ers back to their keyboard
Dzjudz
If the runner dies, the party resses at the shrine only if all party members are dead. If you are afk and alive and the runner dies, you are stuck.

because should the runner die while the afker is of course afk, then they would spawn back up at a rez shrine.

That way if the runner does die, everyone will be dead and he can restart the mission. If some one is afk without vamp and the runner dies, everyone is stuck there until the afk'er gets back or everyone will just up and leave and the runner misses out on profit.
keep in mind guys that when everyone dies in a mission, you fail. no res shrines, lol. *cough* Dzjudz and Neith *cough*
editz: lol, 4 of us posted all at the same time. i'm on the bottom slow typing FTL ;-)

But the comment about not rezing in a mission is valid, but unnecesary. The OP was asking why runners ask people to bring a vamp weapon. Nobody that runs a mission asks this, only dungeons. Dzjudz and Neith understand this, and thus don't see a need to clarify. If someone was running a mission and asked for people to bring vamp weapons, I'd find a new runner.

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/z...t10433057.html <-- "If you wanna be AFK, equip a vamp weapon." or is the poster only referring to the vanquishing section of the post?

Meh, just answering the question, not what someone thinks the OP probably meant to ask. The title specifies mission runners. Thanks for catching my spelling mistake ;-)
@ChromisElda
excellent example. more than likely this person will run you through multiple missions in a row while you are afk. Every now and then, bad spawns or mistakes can happen, therefore requiring a restart. if the afker remains alive, you can't restart and all successive missions will not be able to be done until the afker gets back.

Don't for get that in eye of the north "missions" won't be failed if everyone dies. Therefore it would make sense if you get a run for an entry in you hero's handbook to equip a vampiric weapon in case something bad happens. For the other campaigns though i don't really see a need for missions.

As everyone before me has said: it is for sac'ing yourself. If the runner for any reason wipes they need to be able to rez again. If you are alive (and afk), rezing at a shrine/restarting the mission is not possible.
tl;dr: It's just for convenience for an easier restart in case 'sh!t happens'.

so if we RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO up and wipe we dont have to wait anything from 5 minutes to 10 hours (my record for someone afking while i run him) we just res and go again, also very helpful if they equip a set of 105 or even 55 health armour..
