max r8 alone doesn't make stuff valuable. The prices can soar when you have a max r8 item with max and useful inherent mod(s) or an inscription slot (which means you can put max mods on it.) Your shield is not inscribable, so it cannot be modded to anything more than the inherent non-max mod it has now.
