Blocking content(on guru) in opera
Hells Fury
Recently i noticed that some ads on guru keep reappearing after block.
But now i can't seem to block some of that browser games ad crap. Although i can block the ad in header part of guru i can't block any of ads on right side.
Why is that and how can in fix it?

I'm Fairly sure you have to have paid the site to be a special member to get rid of that. I know personally i cant so im gonna guess thats how you get rid of it.(IMO its not worth it if this scenario is accurate).

stop trying to get rid of the ads without paying for membership? lol

I just downloaded Opera to play around with it after you posted this... and I found: http://blogote.com/2009/ideas/browse...-webpages.html
on there is a list of domains and stuff to block and it seemed to take care of any ads on guru...
Granted I could be doing something wrong but the method seems to have changed...now I had to
1)right-click
2) go to block content
3)hit details
4) add them all manually from there...
OFC all the useless posts will stay and mine will be edited or whatnot...who knows...but yeah basically from what I've seen we aren't supposed to mention how to block teh ads....

Stop using browser addons to block and learn how to use your hosts file.

If you have a linksys router, you can set it up as adblocker with new firmware

(others might work as well)

Edit : It works, tnx a lot.
Funny how they sometimes edit posts about blocking ads. I don't think they should force people and shove big image ads and pop ups into their face. I always liked sites where they actually ask people (post a sticky) to click on google ad links from time to time in order to help site keep running, or to donate. Eurobattlenet for example.

Guild Wars Guru is a fan site. A site run by fans with no help from ArenaNet or NCSoft.
Server space and bandwidth don't come for free.
So, we use ads.
Blocked ads garner no revenue.
So all discussion on various ad-blocking technologies is TABOO.
No ads, no Guru - is that so very hard to understand?
